Brackins Projected @ #12

I'm not sure if you noticed but I clarified that I wouldn't take Craig early. He is a 2nd round pick to me this year. He needs polish.

who's been "polished" since Duncan?

Maybe Shane Battier, who's no allstar.

Ever since Kemp made the leap, youth & potential beats experience at NBA draft day. Kobe, Garnett, Lebron ... extreme examples sure - but they were nowhere near what they are today in the first year. How about Jermaine O'Neal ? anybody remember him riding the pine in Portland for 3 years?

There are definately still things Craig can improve on...defense, strength, and decision-making being the biggies...

Well it is a good thing for Craig that you are not an NBA scout. People that watch basketball every day for their jobs think he is a top 15 talent.

Is his game perfect? No but neither is Lebron James. Not comparing the two, but rather stating that peoples game always has room to improve. But right now Craig is a 6'10 guy with some decent range, above average athleticism, and he can rebound. He is a better defender than people give him credit for. He can't go full out on defense b/c if he gets in foul trouble we are screwed

So what 30 players are better and more polished? He is already one of the oldest guys in the draft...

In no particular order:

Griffin
Thabeet
Harden
Aminu
Hill
Aldrich
Teague
James
Singler
Lawson
Young
Ellington
Blair
Curry
Jerrells
Henderson
Warren
Gibson
Budinger
Mills
Morgan
Flynn
Williams
McNeal
Rice
Collins
Smith
Collison
Maynor
Christmas
Evans

Those are 30 guys I would take ahead of Brackins. Obviously, I haven't seen all of them as much as Brackins (so I can't nitpick as much), but those are all guys I perceive to be better pros than Craig.

how long did it take you to come up with all those guys?

You don't think LeBron was polished? Chris Paul? Polish doesn't mean you are wooden.

and those three he would learn FAR better in the NBA than he would in collge...

Maybe...maybe not...it all depends on coaching and where he went...

It also comes down to whether or not he could improve his stock in the draft by coming back and improving in those areas, or if he's already a high draft pick based on potential...I'm not saying he should stay (although it'd be conveniant), and if a kid is going to be a lottery pick, it'd be really tough to try and look them in the eye, and tell them staying would be in their best interest...but Craig still has just as much of an upside, and has just as much room to improve (if not more) than a lot of the guys coming out that are younger than him.

No, no, no. You have to go into the NBA being a 100% complete player. You have to be as good as you are ever going to be. You have to have a 40 inch verticle, hit the 3 pointer at a 50% clip, average 24 points and 13 rebounds, and block 4 shots a game. Only then, should you be allowed to be in discussion to be a first round pick :jimlad::jimlad:

When it comes to lottery picks, you're closer to the truth than you think. In my opinion, of course. How many guys with 'potential' live up to it?

Hey, if you don't think you can improve your draft stock...or you're happy with where they're projecting you-nobody can fault a guy for leaving whether he's completely polished, or whether he's completely raw...

Btw, Greg Monroe is projected as a top 2-5 pick...which is a little different than 12-30...
