Brackins Projected @ #12

If he's going to be a first rounder he should go because getting paid for an extra year now would mean more money in the long run than moving up a few spots the year after plus there's always a lot of risk if you don't improve. NBA teams are all used to developing guys now so it's not a huge deal if there are parts of his game he needs to work on. Everybody else does too.

Selfishly I hope he stays but if he's getting reliable info that he would probably be taken that high it would be a bad decision.

Simply put if Brackins is a lottery pick he should go, and all of us should take pride in another ISU Cyclone making it in the Big Time. I would love to have him here next year and more importantly in 2 years to be the senior leadership with a Frosh phenom Barnes leading us to the promised land, but I can't expect someone ever to turn down that kind of guaranteed money.

There seem to be no other agile, graceful, can run, good shooting 6'-10" leapers in the NBA draft mix. Many of the others are nice, shorter guys. NBA loves long and tall even at 230 if you remember Durant. He is gone. Long gone.

McD better be making plans for Year One in Year Four. One more home game for CB....

The NBA now drafts potential.....not necessary who has the best game today....

That said, imo, i would still take a senior Marcus Fizer over a sophomore Craig Brackins. IMO Fizer's game was complete, all around, and he was dominant regardless of who he played. I just don't see Craigs game at that level yet - one more year i think it would be and he would be as good if not better then fizer was for us cyclones.

The real temptation will be if he gets into lottery dollars - thats where the big buck guaranteed contracts are - he has lottery potential, one more year with griffin etc leaving, could propel him into a lottery pick/player of the year type potential and thats when your getting paid. The one thing i've seen in his evaluations are right on - not the greatest athlete, and defense is questionable. Those are things that he needs to work on if he's going to be a top 15 pick. I've gone through about 50 mock drafts and all of them have him out of the top 20 so the choice come back and work on his game or go to the NBA and sit on the bench because he's not physically ready to start in the NBA.

This thread makes me sad. All of you saying he doesn't have the game for the next level, he should stay because blah blah blah, he doesn't deserve to be that high. It's clear you don't want him to leave. Thats fine in itself, but your message is very counterproductive.

Think if CB were reading some of these miserable posts from fans about their best player.

All the luck in the world to CB.

In the latest mock draft presented by nbadraft.net Craig Brackins has now moved to the 12th position, which would make him drafted by New Jersey. At least the way they see it playing out. What you guys think about this, early in the year he wasn't even projected for this years draft, at best he was a second rounder next yr. Do you think that he will be gone?

NBADraft.net

If CB has high confidence in getting drafted in this area of the draft...he would be crazy not to go! Sure I would like to see him stay in Ames for another season but he shouldn't! You HAVE to take that payday! Sad...but true!

All you guys stating he should stay another year, are basing that solely off your own desire as a fan. No way should a guy who can be drafted in the top 12 of the NBA stay in college...too many bad things can happen. Many say things like stay in college and develop...doesn't a player have a better chance of developing while practicing with NBA players vs. other college players? And, getting paid millions while developing.
And, for those few who state that losing CB might be good for ISU and McD in the long-run are crazy...losing him for next year would probably spell the beginning of the end of the McD era...

He is good as gone.
Which means we're screwed... again.

This isn't just me speaking as a selfish ISU fan......but I really do think he would greatly benefit from another year in college.
I disagree. If he is likely to be a lottery pick then it would be smart to go. At that point you can only help your stock a little bit, and could potentially hurt it by staying. As a fan I'd like him to stay, but if I was his friend I would tell him to go. (Assuming he's projected that high on a consistent basis, which he's not - yet.) We should all be prepared for him to declare so as to at least test the waters and take stock of his position.

Exactly, if you are already projected #12 then the risks far outweigh the rewards...

Let's say goodbye with a smile, dear,
Just for a while, dear, we must part.
Don't let the parting upset you,
I'll not forget you, sweetheart.
We'll meet again, don't know where, don't know when,
But I know we'll meet again, some sunny day.
Keep smiling through, just like you always do,
'Til the blue skies drive the dark clouds far away. So will you please say hello to the folks that I know,
Tell them I won't be long.
They'll be happy to know that as you saw me go,
I was singing this song. After the rain comes the rainbow,
You'll see the rain go, never fear,
We two can wait for tomorrow,
Goodbye to sorrow, my dear.

If he announces he is leaving I'm predicting it will be the worst day in the history of CF. His decision will have a huge impact on our basketball program.
