Brackins Projected @ #12

It's not too often you see a 4 shooting mid-range jumpers in the NBA. I'm not saying he doesn't have the ability to do it but I see him more as a pick and pop type player.
NBA three is out of his range...Don't see him banging down low because he needs space. Making the mid range shot that much more important...Just my opinion.

I would say a majority of the shots taken by NBA 4's are mid range. Just look at Boozer, he never gets the ball in the post and can't really shoot the three. He gets most of his points around the free throw line and short corner, where an NBA 4 makes a living... In the NBA they don't like to clog the lane to keep it open for the drive...

You might be right.

What are Craig's strengths?

He's a good athlete, a good rebounder, good in the low post, average shot to 18 feet, below average three point shooter, below average defender

He gets a lot of his points shooting over people. Do you think posting up 15 feet out and trying to shoot over people will work in the NBA? When he gets the ball on the block, he is unstoppable. Do you think he can consistently post on the block in the NBA? He already has enough trouble doing that now. His post moves are elementary (save the rare left handed hook he shows) and he doesn't have a great feel for the game.

There is NO WAY I would draft him early. I love Craig but I just don't see it.

Thank you for not attempting to answer my question in any way...

I don't know if this has really been discussed yet but Brackins really doesn't play like any other NBA player I can think of. One thing that will be a key for him sticking in the NBA will be his ability to hit the 3. If he can't do it then I really don't think he has an offensive game in the NBA.

With his form, I don't see him ever becoming a consistent three point threat, especially from NBA range.

Are you kidding me? NBA 4's make a living hitting open mid-range jumpers.

I gave you my reasons why I wouldn't take Craig. Was it a direct answer to your question? No. I took it as more rhetorical than anything.

He really needs to work on his mid range game if he wants to make it in the NBA. He really doesn't have a great mid range shot. He'll make it when he's hot, but that doesn't happen all the time. CRAIG! If you are reading this, Stay one more year and work on the little things in your game, and be a top 10, maybe top 5 next year

If you were in the front office, how high would you take Craig and why?

EXACTLY C&G!!!!!

I think Brackins COULD end up as a Chris Bosh type player. If his jump shot improves then maybe a Rasheed Wallace. Remember, guys like Wallace and Garnett weren't the best shooters when they were young either, but when it's your JOB to play ball it makes it alot easier to improve...

My point is that everything you said can be applied to EVERY SINGLE PLAYER that will be drafted this year...

I'm not sure if you noticed but I clarified that I wouldn't take Craig early. He is a 2nd round pick to me this year. He needs polish.

It all depends on what Craig wants...Craig's family situation...and what those "in the know" close to Craig are telling him...

Last year DeAndre Jordan was hearing that he would be a lottery pick all year long, right up until draft night...and he ended up being early second round...but that's just my selfish reasoning for Craig to come back so I can be happy, and Iowa State can become a factor in the Big 12 again.

It'd be hard to fault anyone for taking millions of dollars when offered.
