Correct, and they they check the balance. Sum up the Top 4 seeds in each region and make sure no region is too high or too low.
Sure, but we've had a repeat champion in the tournament pretty regularly every 20 years or so, and that's where we are at. It's going to happen again someday. Could be this year. UCONN is about as strong a candidate as you could ask for.
I think the Big12 championship might still have an influence. They’ve said in the past that outside of automatic bids, the Sunday championships are too late to have any effect on the seeding.
Lived in Hartford for a few years and it’s literally a two hour drive/ride (depending on traffic) to both Boston and NY. Right in the middle.
Doubt that would apply much. On the 1 line only UNC is any type of drop off and they'd likely be placed in the west with Arizona the probable overall 5. The rest of the 2 line is pretty even. 3s are going to be determined by avoiding conference foes on the 1 and 2 lines. Same for the 4s.
It really seems the best Westcoast team always has an advantage. If a one gets shipped in it will be the weakest one. If they are the one they get a 2 that couldn't secure a closer location.
Lived out here now for the past 14 years and this is spot on. Super easy to get to both. The UConn faithful prefer Madison Square Garden but they will gladly take Boston as a backup.
And look for Purdue to get bounced before the Elite 8. Although I think Big Rob would bang with Edey and Ward’s length would challenge him. Plus we would pressure the **** out of their guards like they haven’t seen. We would make it hard to throw that entry pass.
Then they add up the seeds. They don't make a judgement that all 2 seeds are even. They would never have 1-5-9 in the same region. It's part of their documented principles.
Nope, like I have said, closest region first, keep conference opponents separate. Once that is done, check regional competitive balance

Houston in the south will Marquette or Tennessee
UCONN in the East with us or Tennessee
Purdue in the MW with the highest remaining 2 seed. Detroit is the closest region for all 3 schools.

Not a single Q1 game since February 10th, only 4 since January 1st. Yes, their non-con was tough, but that doesn't erase the fact that their entire conference season was mediocre competition.

They have some very questionable losses as well. We beat Houston today and it would be criminal to keep them above us.
I took that as a challenge and found you actually could meet the seeding criteria by going 1-5-9-16, 2-8-10-15, 3-7-11-14, and 4-6-12-13 -- all the regions are within 4 total seeds difference. But yeah, that'd never happen in real life, despite meeting the letter of the law.
To make the counter argument, we played a tough conference schedule but that doesn't erase our entire non-con was horrible competition.
We will be a 2 in Omaha. Only change would be if we somehow became a 1 in Omaha (highly unlikely).
