In the end Orlando would probably be a best case scenario. Liberty against anyone but Memphis would be next. Liberty against Memphis would suck, but at least it is within reasonable driving distance so it would be attractive to more Cyclone fans.

As much as playing in the Liberty Bowl against Memphis is hated by ISU fans, Memphis players and fans have to be just as unhappy about it. Wooh Hooh, we played a great season, made it to the conference championship game, and barely lost so we could get one more home game!

I get the home field advantage part of not wanting to play Memphis, but Id have to imagine Memphis would be pretty unmotivated with a bowl game that they don't get to travel to after the season they had.

That being said, it would be a pretty meh matchup for me. Id much rather play a P5 team.

Ask Oklahoma what we think of home fields.

Holding out hope we get a big name.

Like others have posted, the dream of a SEC team in Memphis sadly is out. That would have been the best bowl game in my lifetime.

Give me Notre Dame. Would rather lose to them than beat a Memphis.

Winning/Losing a bowl game does very little for your team besides some momentum. It’s rhe 15 practices that are the key.

Well as long as you arent Iowa and get beaten so badly the the 2 weeks that follow are media wondering how they even made a bowl game..Otherwise I agree with you.

Blah on having anything to do with Notre Dame or playing Memphis in what amounts to a home game for them.

Give me VTech in Orlando, I demand it.

I would think your assessment of Memphis would be right. So, why does the Liberty Bowl want to do that? Memphis playing at home that is.

Somehow I am sure there will be lots of people on here ******** if we lose our bowl game.

I saw this picture from looking around at bowl projections. Whose job do think it was to select the best looking potatoes?

Yeah, they overlooked us, looking forward to Texas which is a big game for them, regardless of standings. I'm willing to bet that if the game were played again, their attitude would be a little different. I lived in Oklahoma, football games against ISU are regarded automatic wins on the schedule.

Don't expect Memphis to have that same attitude. Home game, national television. They have everything to gain and nothing to lose. ISU, however, only looks bad, if we lose. Win, and it was expected against a non P5 school. I don't look forward to this matchup. Still think we win, but not looking forward to it.

I know a lot will come into play here but I think the Liberty Bowl and the state of TN are drulling at the opportunity to have two Iowa fans bases in the state, carry over and a ton of commerce for both cities...

Our team played better on the road than at home. That's unique.

I'd buy this more if they didn't lead the whole first half. Did they start working on Texas preparations at half time?

On a side note, having been to Memphis last time, we thought about making the 3 1/2 drive to Nashville for some sightseeing before or after the bowl game. If Iowa fans are there, no thank you.
