For me personally it's 1) location with nice weather and then 2) a opponent we can beat. I think of all the teams we could potentially play we match up worst against Mizzou in the Liberty Bowl.

I'd love to play VT in Orlando or a PAC 12 team in AZ.

I'm guess you're speaking partly as a former player, which I totally understand. It's easy for us to say we want a big matchup, but for the players, I hope they have a location they enjoy. I also do want a team we can beat, but I don't really want to play a MAC or CUSA team.

I know I'm a homer, but a fair argument could be made that ISU is the 3rd best team in the B12, maybe even 2nd. Oklahoma is the best. ISU is the only team that beat them. TCU was only beaten by Oklahoma and ISU. I think ISU is better than TCU. For 2nd and 3rd, I would give 2nd to OSU and 3rd to ISU. ISU lost 5 games by a grand total of 28 points (I think). Oklahoma beat every other B12 team by double digits. ISU is a better football team that KSU, WV and TX. Hopefully, the bowl committees will recognize this. We should do some lobbying.

Thanks to "fsanford" for posting this (this is the relatively recent agreement with the bowl partners):

From the Big 12 site
Big 12 Bowl Partners
Once the CFP has filled its bowl slots, Big 12 bowl partners will make selections from the remaining bowl eligible teams. Following is the order of selection. A bowl may pick from any available teams when it reaches its spot in the selection order.
Valero Alamo
Camping World
AdvoCare V100 Texas
AutoZone Liberty
Cactus
Zaxby's Heart of Dallas

From available teams within the conference? Or at-large?

You know the only team we beat in November was 1-win Baylor, right?

Partially as a former player, but mostly as a vacationer. Memphis was ok, weather sucked though and we already did the touristy stuff there (Graceland, etc.). So if it's Memphis we'd just drive down the day before, enjoy some BBQ, go to the game and then head home. But if it's Orlando, we'd drive down there and be there for a week (since I've never been to FL). If it's Phx, my stepdaughter goes to ASU so we can just drive down there and take her back to AZ with us, stay for the week and drive home.

Sorry, but I'd actually rather play an amazingly entertaining, hard fought battle and lose to Notre Dame over beating up on Kentucky.
ISU vs Kentucky would have no one watching.
ISU vs ND would draw eyes from across the nation, with most pulling for ISU.
And we could certainly win, I just want to play a top tier team. I wanna play a team that is disappointed to draw ISU and then gets spanked.

If we go to Memphis, I hope we play UK. I would love to see Daddy Mangino at the game.

Do we want OU or TCU to win? I could see TCU not getting a new years 6 if they lose

That's hard to say. I would say if TCU wins them and OK get a NY6 bowl, but then the Big 12 is eliminated from them playoff, if OK wins they are in the Playoff, but TCU is on the bubble to getting a NY6 bowl, which ultimately could drop us down in bowl selection too.

I'm torn because I now want the Big 12 to get screwed out of the playoffs, but I want the Big Ten to get left out too.

If TCU wins both OU and TCU will get NY6
