Looks like Cluff is still scheduled to visit after finishing his visit at Purdue on Tues. As far as primacy/recency effects, we got both since he already visited ISU and will finish here as well. If he doesn't commit before Wed., I will feel very good about our chances.

I don’t see how we’d take him at this point unless we figure out how to ‘Amardi’ someone else. It’s already almost a logjam at the 4/5.

ive come to the conclusion i'd rather improve on defense than offense for next season.

we know JJ can score. Milan has shown spurts. He MUST get more consistent. Can Milan get up to 14/15 PPG? That would be a good start. Lipsey will also need to get more aggressive and be a scorer.

That's a solid 3 guys that we can (hopefully) rely on for main offensive weapons. Sprinkle in Heise, Buchanan and the rest of the bench guys.

Am I disappointed we didn't land Cluff? Yeah, but I don't think Cluff was the magic key to a successful season for next year.
Don't need Lipsey to score more, I think with Williams and our freshmen we'll have enough scoring juice

Hope I’m wrong but assuming this means we might be out on Cluff but IF we get Cluff this is a great backup center to have.

Who are you counting as fives?

I think the kid from Pella is the third 4 and the third five and is ok with that.

If you’d have told me our best 3pt shooters shot .409, .396, and, .374 and we only losing .374 I would’ve lost that bet and would’ve wrongly identified each one.

Well, luckily you don't have to call swish in an NCAA game. If it hits every spot on the rim and still goes in, it still counts as two points.
My point is that he is very limited offensively. I hope he os a good defensive player

Lipsey returning to Sophomore year form or taking another step forward will be key. He was too much off the ball this yr. Only avg 10ppg after 12 last season. Get back to 12-14.

He has a great, team needs a bucket gear. This is his team, similar to Monte and Georges. Monte was general, but Georges was the guy.

Blum and CW all but closed the door completely. When the bag ma. Talks as if you missed, you assume he knows a bit more than message board chatter.
And he was already offered the largest bag ISU has ever extended, so not like we can up the ante.

I guess I did not hear that
It went from early last week to, “stay tuned for a big week/weekend of exciting news!” to much more tempered. Still think it’s really solid group returning and honestly ISU has almost always done better when expectations are tempered vs high.

Ultimately LSFT LFG

With the assumption that Jefferson is going to take at least 80% of the minutes at the 4 (and may play some small ball 5), Buchanan, Pleta, and Mulder are all fighting for minutes at 5. Unless everyone is on board with 40 minutes of hell, I don’t know how you add Cluff. That also takes away a scholarship spot that could/should really be used for another guard.

That said, if Cluff really wants to come and the money works, I think you take him and figure it out.

I don’t think we get to use the Shayok multiplier here. That was a really good UVa team that played a painfully slow pace.
This Virginia team might play slow as well, but they also score 64.8 ppg because they suck.
I think Blum said their pace was 361st. That seems slow...

Out of curiosity how much further are you expecting ISU to go up from two consecutive 2/3 seeds?

Not saying they won't but that's quite the bar.
Really fun seasons, but those two teams finished with one sweet 16 appearance, and a round of 32 appearance. I think most agree that's a let down given the opportunity that was at hand? Especially after all the final 4 talk. Yes, I understand injuries, but some other inefficiencies appeared late in the season.

I think a fair goal is to reach the Elite 8.

I’ll take an elite eight, after watching injuries and choke jobs in this years eight, anything can happen.
