Billy Gillispie

Sign me up for BG. You people being critical of him won't be complaining too much when he has us in the NCAA tournament in 2-3 years tops.

That could happen or it could happen that Billy G gets arrested for yet another OWI as coach. That would look great!!!!

Gillespee would be a perfect hire for ISU and I think would be a huge upgrade over McD. He's the kind of guy that could come in an get the recruits to stay committed (if he wants them that is). He knows the conference, he knows how to win, I say it's worth a shot. If he builds up the program to a point where he can jump to a bigger job again, that would be fine with me.

Sometimes you have to roll the dice. There are no guaranteed hires unless you're a KU or UNC type school.

you are really going nuts with the uncalled for exaggerations today.

What can I say.... I like to go over the top. Certainly seemed that ESPN was doing the GMAC apologist routine though and blaming all of the problems with the program on everything but GMAC. Come on.... at some point the guy in charge of the program has to be responsible for what is going wrong with the program. 4 years? Really? 4 years and none of the issues are his fault? ****.... someone from CF that loves Greg must have started writing for ESPN.com

Texas recruits maybe are interested in staying in Texas. It would be harder to convince them to come to Ames.

We get a **** ton of TX recruits up here for football, why wouldn't we be able to get them up here for basketball?

Yes. Would be a great hire. Even if he does leave in 4 years, if our program is in a better place, it will be worth it.

Well he had no problem at Kentucky with recruiting

Well, no ****. I would have no problem recruiting to Kentucky. The history alone and then add in the fact that apparently they cheat. Easy.

I hate the assertion that 'we're not learning from chizik' by the original article.

We KNEW what we were getting into with chizik. We all knew he would probably bolt if he had success. We just figured we'd actually have to have success for him to bolt for a better job in the first place (what will happen 99% of the time), leaving us in a better position afterwards.

The more I think about this, the more I doubt the validity of the story. JP has shown that his coaching searches are very secretive. I also doubt he'd let it slip that we're looking to dump McD.

And I guess that I would rather roll the dice on a good guy and someone who represents the school well than with someone who wouldn't.

One positive for me, is that I would likely care less when we loss. I've felt terrible all year when we've lost for Craig and for McDermott. Those feelings for me would go right out the window.
