and 5* recruits. Even if he leaves after a few years at least we'll be more known and can probably score another great coachSign me up for BG. You people being critical of him won't be complaining too much when he has us in the NCAA tournament in 2-3 years tops.
I'm an Insider. Not going to C/P but it's nothing new.

Problems that weren't his own causing? Really? I guess being one of the worst basketball coaches on the planet doesn't qualify as being his fault. I would expect more from ESPN then that.
Well he had no problem at Kentucky with recruitingTexas recruits maybe are interested in staying in Texas. It would be harder to convince them to come to Ames.
That could happen or it could happen that Billy G gets arrested for yet another OWI as coach. That would look great!!!!

Exactly. I'd take the risk with this guy.Sometimes you have to roll the dice. There are no guaranteed hires unless you're a KU or UNC type school.
you are really going nuts with the uncalled for exaggerations today.

True but I still guarantee he'd pull in better recruits than McD.Ya and I am sure he had no national championship trophies or great tradition to show off either, recruiting to Kentucky and Iowa State are completely different jobs
Gillespee would be a perfect hire for ISU and I think would be a huge upgrade over McD. He's the kind of guy that could come in an get the recruits to stay committed (if he wants them that is). He knows the conference, he knows how to win, I say it's worth a shot. If he builds up the program to a point where he can jump to a bigger job again, that would be fine with me.
