Bill Fennelly

We are the same age.....and I have been watching ISU womens basketball for a long time and I agree with a lot of what you are saying. I don't think the dirty looks are an issue....but when it seems like dirty looks are occurring as opposed to coaching/teaching/adjusting that is when I think it's a problem. And that is where I feel like we are lately in games and at times it seems the assistant coaches have joined him in that area as well. Sometimes there doesn't appear to be a lot of coaching on the bench these days.
You’re all a bunch of young whipper snappers….

Until Wed. night game hadn't seen a lot of it from the bench and then after AC got pulled Schaben pulled out an ipad and was showing her somethings on it which hopefully Audi took to heart and played better. Seemed to anyway but saw a couple time Schaben was pointing things out to her but that is the only time in recent game have seen it happen.

So one thing that confuses me. They talk about Tom Izzo and Bill being the longest tenure at a Power 4/5. So they aren't counting Geno because they are in the Big East? He is in his 41st season.

I noticed that there was nothing on the video from Utah, TCU, TT, CO or UCF coaches but the UCF coach talked about it in her post game comments
"Hey Coach, congrats on beating me to become the all-time Big 12 wins leader." - Gerlich

The editing was different between the Twitler version and the Hilton version. About 90% the same. I’m sure they put out a call and whoever sent something in 24 hours got included. Coales didn’t surprise me but Mulkey sure did. Maybe some even regret him being blackballed for coach of the year all these years.

Just got around to listening to W&B, they discussed Bill's video and we're very complimentary as usual. Also, a great story about AJ using her merger NIL story her freshmen year to buy tickets for her special needs friend.

Anyway, maybe they aren't looking to spill any confidential info, but it sounds like if there is a plan for retirement it hasn't been shared to CW yet.

I could see the athletic department being very tight-lipped about it. I hope CBF has shared his thoughts about his future plans with JP (even if they aren't concrete) so JP can start forming succession plans. But I'm sure JP always has a short-list prepared for all sports.

I think ADJP proved this with the Jimmy Rogers hire.

At least for MBB, WBB, football, and at ISU probably wrestling too, but hopefully for every program in the athletic department, I would expect and hope that the AD has a concrete "What if this coach leaves tomorrow?" plan, regardless of any coach's stated plan.

It is obvious given existing roster construction and 2026-27 recruiting that Bill will not be coaching in 2027-28. I doubt there will be a succession plan and understandably so as I am assuming (and hoping) JP’s preference is to not restrict Bill’s replacement to only his tree.

And as previously mentioned, JP should be applauded for having CJR ready to replace CMC and my guess is that he wisely had the wheels in motion once Franklin got fired despite all the media reports suggesting CMC wasn’t in play until the very end and some local media naivety regarding that possibility.
