I did not comment but was pretty bummed at that result.

The tendency to struggle mightily in early games is about the only proven coaching "weakness" CMC has not sufficiently addressed - now that the team is playing well late season - as well as in October.

I expect improvements. CMC is not one to let bad tendencies remain unaddressed.

I was wrong. Looks like the season has a good chance of actually completing.

Last year's bowl game and the difference between the teams was a pretty clear sign that ISU's not where many fans seem to think they are.
Are we really sure ISU is that talented?

They're returning a lot of players...but it's from a 7-6 football team in a season where the Big 12 won one bowl game.

For the record I'll generally stand by these. ISU's turned out to be a decent team and it's great seeing them in this position after such a stupid year, however I think they'd have a real hard time with top teams.

If they get into the B12 Title Game, that's a nice step and more football is always nice, but at the same time posters are worried that Urban Meyer's going to come in and make Texas actually good.

So you think a team that is going to the conference championship for the first time in school history, ranked in the top 10 and a potential (long shot, but still possible) playoff team isn’t that talented and a clear sign that the team isn’t where fans thought they’d be?

ISU is a decent team? We're 7-1 in conference with wins over OU AND Texas.. we're in the Big 12 championship - do you recall the last time that was? I don't think there were a lot of people claiming we were a top 5 or even top 10 team, so not sure how you can stand by "is ISU really that talented", and "ISU's not where many fans seem to think they are"...

I think they're talented.

I don't think they're head and shoulders above many of the teams they've beaten, and per those teams, this was definitely the year to make this happen, and it's very cool they've taken advantage of it.

BUT if they end up 7-4 or 7-5 in a year where the Big 12 is not strong, where does that leave things?

Looks like some folks agreed with what I originally wrote so I couldn't have been alone to be targeted for these ideas.

But people don't want Texas to be good again and were happy ISU got OU when they did, and don't want to see OU now.

Why is that?

Just because you weren't the only one to have a knee jerk reaction doesn't mean that it wasn't stupid.

Good point. Message board posters here say that, so it must be reality.

Well in reality if someone asked me about ISU, I'd say they're a decent team that's stepped up when they needed to.

I would not brag much about them beating OU and Texas this particular season, as reality is those teams have had their struggles, but would say it's cool to see them pull it off when the chance arose, and possibly do something new for the program.

We'll see if Saturday comes to fruition.

Regardless of the big 12 being up or down, ending the regular season with a conference record of 8-1 or 7-2 is a successful year. I'd say that leaves things in a good place for next year when the team returns a ton of talent.
