THIS! I was going to post about the number of "human-(non)interest" stories on CGD! That is not what I turn the TV on for on a fall Saturday morning! Same thing with the hours worth of those stories on the Super Bowl pre-game shows!

I don’t watch either they are both pretty much trash TV at this point. Way better stuff on YouTube.

Although I haven't been regular viewer of the pregames for quite a while (as I mentioned), in general for those who watch, it might be cool to get one that isn't CyHawk, for a change of pace.

It makes sense it's going to be that, since that stretch in September has almost no P4 rivalry games, and ISU hasn't been a major national contender during most seasons to get, say, a mid-October slot against a conference opponent AND not conflicting with big-name matchups from B10/SEC.

Jamie was so pissed with ESPN over the last time, I would how he would even approach it. An Ireland trip and then BNK would be a hell of a lot for a younger team in the first 3 weeks of the season.

Is it the home team that determines the network? I assume it is, if so you are competing with:

Okie State @ Oregon
Stanford @ BYU

SO yea I feel like this is an easy pick
yeah I'd bet Oklahoma State/Oregon is going to be either a CBS or NBC game....BYU/Stanford is probably getting the late kick off on ESPN if I had to bet....8 PM local kick for them, 9 for us

99% of the time, announced time = "on-air" time

"11:00" game = 11:02-11:10
"2:30" game = 2:35-2:45
"6:00" game = 6:05-6:10
Yep but I do recall a lot of compliants every week due to the BNK kickoff time compared the ESPN game that follows Gameday. Typically Gameday will go right into the teams on the field for kickoff as opposed to BNK having an additional 10-15 minutes of pregame after their pregame show.

I don't know if I recall specifically his reaction (that's the 2021 show, correct?) .... quick web search I don't find anything, so just curious.
In interviews after the fact (potentially a year or two after) I remember him specifically talking about the second one and how ESPN didn't communicate with him their plan at all he was pissed about it.

Is Iowa State the only GameDay host that guest-picker picked the opponent to win? I can't imagine it happening more than once, to boot, but I have no idea.

Yeah, the picks turned out correct, but it isn't a question of accuracy.

(I know this thread is supposed to focus on Big Noon Kickoff, not G-D, but it's part of the general discussion)

No we are the only one to have the guest pick the opponent but we pare probably the only host school that has ever the guest picker be directly associated the opponent.

I've read various comments on CF and elsewhere about BNK being better. I'm curious for those who prefer it to GDay, what makes it better.

My lack of viewing those preview shows is more about life priority/flow than anything specific against them.

I watched GameDay quite regularly in early '00s, then less and less as time passed. I was excited when it finally came to Ames, and shows mostly good, other than the guest-picker thing, then later the weather delays AND losing the game, the combo of it all soured me.
I switched after a lifetime on GDay because I can't stand Pat McAfee. I know a lot of people like him but he absolutely ruins the show for me. IN MY OPINION, he's way too loud, boisterous, narcissistic, and focuses on the wrong things. I could put up with things like them keeping Corso on like Weekend at Bernie's but PM is just a downright tool in my opinion. Reminds me of the Rogan nutjob.

Probably have CC as their guest picker!:puke::puke:
If that were somehow to happen, I would do very, very bad things to my TV. And I don't mean in a fun "you've been a bad girl" way. That would be the ultimate kick in the nuts and show of disrespect, far topping Kutcher.

Only acceptable choices:
Purdy
Tyrese
Breece
Montgomery
TJ
McCarney

If none of them are available, put a ******* cardboard cutout of one of them up there.

Good list.

For 2019, McCarney seemed like such a dependable choice. Has the Fry-tree tie so it connects both programs, obviously knows the rivalry from the inside, would make ISU his pick and he's engaging and passionate. Not like he's averse to that type of spotlight, "personality"-wise. Maybe he was considered for it, but was unable to commit, I have no clue how the process works.

Maybe he wouldn't be the go-to at this point, but considering it in retrospect.

Schedule/timing would have to mesh for Purdy/Breece/DM.
