Casting out to the experts for a forecast of the Big 12 meet. I have never seen the conference this wide open. Certainly, Okie State is my favorite to win it but they are quite vulnerable. ISU and UNI can make a case to win this thing if it falls a certain way. I never would have made this argument a month ago but the performances last weekend gave me reason the re-think this.

What are the thoughts of others?

125 Hoping for 2nd Top 3 at worst?
133. Top 4
141. Chance to win it but no worse than 2nd?
149. Could win it but 2nd or 3rd is likely?
157. Need bonus points as we win it
165 This goes along way to determining if we have a team that can win it. No idea
174 1st, 2nd or 3rd?
184. Coleman has not done much yet but is looking much better at this weight IMO. Can he surprise?
197. Not much expected
Hwt. 1st or 2nd. 3rd is possible but I like our guy over Isley. Orndorff is tough

My guess for the conference placements would be:
125: 2nd
133: 3-6 (a handful of wrestlers in that mix)
141: 2nd but Parker could Demas for sure
149: 3rd or 4th but could see him getting higher pending the draw
157: 1st be interesting to see how dominating he is
165: 5th or 6th I am shooting for, not sure
174: 2nd or 3rd
184: 3rd or 4th
197: 5th or 6th
285: 2nd
Definitely the most excited I have been for the Big 12's in years with the possibility of knocking off Okie State.

174 is a really tough weight at Big 12s. Could see Colbray anywhere from 1st to 6th. Would be happy with a top 4 performance.

125 - Mackall is likely a 3 seed. should be 5 allocations at a minimum, maybe another one or two.
133 - There is a lot of parity at this weight. Small should be seeded in the 3-5 range. Think he places higher than his seed. Should be 8-9 allocations at this weight.
141 - Parker should be seeded 2nd and can certainly win it. Should be 5-6 allocations.
149 - Degen should be seeded 3rd or 4th. Should be 5 allocations minimum. Maybe another one or two.
157 - Carr will be seeded 1st with 5, maybe 6 allocations
165 - Straw might be seeded in the 5 or 6 neighborhood. Should be 4 or maybe 5 allocations.
174 - Colbray will likely be seeded 3rd and can obviously win it. Should be from 4-7 allocations. There are several at this weight right on the edge of gaining an allocation (Smith, Colbray, Martino)
184 - No idea where Coleman will be seeded, likely between 6 and 9. Minimum of 4 allocations at this weight and up to 6 if Coleman can get enough matches and perform well.
197 - Shapiro should be seeded around 8th and there should be 7-8 allocations.
285 - Gremmel will likely be seeded 3rd or 2nd and there should be 7-8 allocations. He could win it.

Team race = I believe it is a two team race between Okie State and ISU and could be very close. I think UNI is a distant 3rd unless they wrestle out of their rear ends.

I think Coleman will be the 5th seed:

1.Taylor Lujan (Wins: Montalvo, Carlson, Coleman, Roberts, Thompson)
2.Anthony Montalvo (Wins: Carlson, Clothier, Coleman, Roberts, Samuelson, Thompson)
3.Zach Carlson (Wins: Coleman, Roberts, Samuelson, Thompson)
4.Alan Clothier(Wins: Samuleson)
5.Marcus Coleman (Wins: Roberts)
6.Darrien Roberts (Wins:Samuelson, Thompson)
7.Tate Samuelson (Wins: Thompson)
8.Jake Thompson (Wins: none)

I think
125 - I think we have 4 allocations (#1 Picc, #2 Schwarm, #3 Mackall, #4 Vega)
They could switch Schwarm and Mackall around since they split and Schwarm lost to Vega also. Really irrelevant after the top 4

133 - I think we have 7 allocations, outside chance of 8 (#1 Bridges, then I don't know, Lamont, Sykora, Witcraft, Small, Madrigal, Schwartz, and maybe Skudlarczky)

141 - I think we have 5 allocations (#1 Demas, #2 Parker, #3 Hone, #4 Blockhus, #5 Lloren)

149 - I think we have 5 allocations (#1 Boo, #2 Thomsen, #3 Degen, #4 Allirez, #5 Pohlmeyer) I don't think it matters whether Degen is 2 or 3 seed.
Allirez only conference loss is to Boo, but didn't wrestle Thomsen, Degen or Pohlmeyer.
Degen lost to Thomsen, but also never wrestled Boo, Pohlmeyer or Allirez
Thomsen lost to Boo and Pohlmeyer and beat Degen
Pohlmeyer beat Leisure (1-0), Thomesen and lost to Boo

157 - I think we have 5 allocations (#1 Carr, #2 Thomas, #3 Franek, #4 Sheets, #5 Wright)

165 - I think we have 4 allocations (#1 Wittlake, #2 Fogarty, #3 Cook, #4 Maneweather)
Not sure where Straw gets seeded. #6???

174 - I think we get 4 allocations, hope for another 2 on win %age . (#1 Steiert, #2 Bastain, #3 Mantanona, #4 Smith, #5 Colbray, #6 Martino) Colbray and Smith are the 2 that might need win %age to get to silver. Colbray would probably be best at #3, or #6 if I have #1 and #2 right

184 - I think we get 4 allocations (#1 Lujan, #2 Montalvo, #3 Carlson, #4 Clothier)
I think Coleman get #5 seed

197 - I think we get 7 allocations (#1 Adams, #2 Woodley, #3 Geer, #4 Seely, #5 Sloan, #6 Buchanan, #7 Orndorff) Shapiro at #9

285 - I think we get 7 allocations (#1 Orndorff, #2 Gremmel, #3 Hokit, #4 Isley, then Andrews, Robertson and Metz in some order)

that is certainly possible

How is the big 12 tournament for those who have gone to Tulsa? I want to go but haven’t yet. It’s a bucket list deal.

285 - I think we get 7 allocations (#1 Orndorff, #2 Gremmel, #3 Hokit, #4 Isley, then Andrews, Robertson and Metz in some order)
125 - you might be right on 4. I thought Sidney Flores had a shot, but he lost his last two and fell below the .700 threshold.
133 - I think Skudlarczyk gets an allocation (#23 in coaches and #19 in RPI). Price has an outside chance (#33 coaches and #26 RPI) if he beats Sykora this week.
141 - 5 is probably correct. Lenny Petersen should break the .700 mark, but #31 in RPI is probably not enough.
149 - I think 5 as well. Butler was on the fringe, but lost the last few.
157 - Agree - Krueger (#33 coaches and #29 RPI) will likely drop in rankings and not gain an allocation
165 - agree on allocations, can Straw get one yet? Kiussis was (#27 and #29) but has lost 3 straight since rankings. Straw was (nr,#33). Do 3 wins in a row push him high enough in rankings?
174 - seeding is anyone's guess. Steiert should be 1, I think #2 is between Colbray, Smith, and Montanona as they are 1-1 against each other. I'd give to Montanona with the better body of work. Bastian has only beaten Hastings, so think he's a 5. For allocations, I don't think Smith qualifies. He's 6-3 and wrestles Kemmerer this week. If Colbray loses this week, he will not qualify a spot unless he wrestles in last chance tourney and gets enough matches. Martino is currently 7-3 and could qualify, but wrestles Montanona this week. Might only get 4 here.
184 - should get 4 for sure. Samuelson is on the edge (#31,#26) and Coleman could qualify if he gets enough matches.
197 - agree, Shapiro is on the edge (#31, #33)
285 - agree

I believe they only use Big 12 meets for seeding unless they have changed it recently. Thus, I think pohlmeyer will get #2 at 149 and Shapiro should get seeded over Orndorff unless he beat someone that beat Shapiro.

Went last year and really enjoyed it . Being in Tulsa it is a little like an Okie State home meet but their fans were good to us so I can’t complain .

The only bad fan bases I have met for wrestling seemed to be Big10 based. All the other teams fans were of the mind that the group of people who care about wrestling is too small to chase anyone out. And that's the proper way to think of it.

Last year was my first & had a blast! Several different bars/grilles around for something to do while waiting for next session.
