Big 12 Refs Strike Again

No..Don't lower ourselves to blame the refs on a questionable call.Thats what losers(hawkeyeyes) do.
Very questionable...but still a very good game and show some class.
We will beat them in Hilton and if they are unfortunate enough to play us in Kansas City.

Yeah, I know, but I have to vent. We didn't play a complete game and didn't deserve to win . . . particularly because of our weakness in rebounding . . . but that last non-call on the push-off did give him the game-winning shot . . . I'm not going to pretend that I'm not ticked off by the non-call.

Wow, this thread didn't take long. That won't get called 9 times out of 10. The refs did the right thing. Move on.

Thought the the same thing.....knew it wouldn't take long for the morons to show themselves.

dont rebound, don't make free throws, don't find their guards....you're going to lose. And we deserved to lose.

You're not getting that call at the end of the game, and hardly why we lost. Stop looking to blame officials every time we lose....and like I always say...wake me up when you credit the refs for one of our wins.

Not sure what's going on, but IMO we haven't looked "good" in awhile.

I disagree. Just because a lot of college refs are bad at making the call doesn't make it right.

Getting down 17 because we decided defense was for ******* is why we lost.

And then crawling within 2 in the same half, yet losing by 12 at halftime.

Horrible team effort tonight. Embarrassed with Niangs play all of January. Not meeting even half of his expectations this year. Missed easy bunnies tonight, stepped out of bounds simply running around with the ball, and decided to run into a trap with 3 seconds left and put up a stupid *** shot and leave two hot players wide open.

I really hate the way people react on here to a loss. We came out a little flat on the road and then went on a run and then they did. It is a game of runs and luckily we ended on one. McKay makes a layup or Morris doesn't get shoved we steal one. As it turns out we lost but showed heart closing the game on a tear. We were down 14 with 8 minutes to play. Come on. It was a road game against a ranked team. This is text book meltdown post rI ght here though, wow.

You will never get that call in the final 10 seconds. Getting nearly run out of the arena in the first five minutes again and bricking free throws left and right again cost us the game

That blatant? Uh, yeah you will. If Monte's jersey was blue or burnt orange you can bet your a@@ they would've called a foul on Cherry. Don't even try to argue that. You know it's true.

We lost. Oh well. We'll beat Kansas on Saturday and ISU will be just fine. But still, that non call just pi@@es me off.

Last no call was bad but it wasn't the only bad call. There was a sequence where Gathers lowers his shoulder and drove Hogue out-of-the-way no call then BDJ comes down barely touches a guy it's a charge. No consistency except officiating crap over and over.

I would argue we haven't looked good all January. Which is encouraging because if they decide to start playing, they can destroy the Big 12.

The question is, why aren't they playing now.

I know they'll be ready come March. But why aren't they prepared now?

Dude threw a stiff arm on Morris, there was nothing borderline about it. It was blown.

A little flat? We looked like UCLA vs. Kentucky the first 7 minutes of the game. That's much more than a little flat. That's forgetting the ball was tipped and we have a game going on now.

Exactly, what lost us this game was our inability to shoot free throws and letting Baylor lead by double digits for most of the game.

Seth Greenberg mentioned something about teams starting workouts and practice earlier so the slump you normally see in February is being seen in January. (this was not in reference to Iowa State).

I agree with you except for one statement.

The refs didn't do the right thing, they did the normal thing.

That was a definite foul, but it's rarely called, EVER.

I have seen Nader get called for that at least 4 times this year. Tough spot for the refs. They naturally want to swallow their whistles and let the players decide the game but that was a push off. But not getting rebounds, missing free throws and not playing well for 30 minutes of the game lost it, not that one play.

disagree. We were very flat from the tip and mostly stayed that way. We haven't played great in awhile.

the TEAM and HOIBERGS expectations that THEY set....not the fans....is national title. Is this loss derailing that? No of course not....but losses add up, and these losses could....stress could cost a seed or two later.

So while we don't need to act like we should be jumping off building....we shouldn't act like its nothing either.

Why are so many people swarming to say that the REAL reason for the loss was sloppiness/laziness/free throws/whatever?

What if I told you... that a team could play less than perfect basketball, have room for improvement that they control, and still suffer a bad call at a pivotal moment in the game?

For the record, I love this team. I truly believe they can be national champ contenders.

But right now, there play is either blazing hot, or freezing cold.

They did the right thing to ignore an obvious foul? Ok. If Morris does that to Mason on Saturday you better believe he would get a foul called.
