If I remember correctly, next season CU and OSU will be the 2 teams in the Big 12 with Football national championships. Both were number 1 in the polls at the end of a season, CU in 1990 and OSU in 45?
Oops, I forgot BYU in the 80s...
Don't forget we were #1 in 1858! I think. But that was before the polls.

Yes, sir, Iowa Agricultural College and Model Farm!!!

UT likes to talk trash on their “Tell me about” threads. It seems like the highest traffic now are the tech threads. UT has their butt hurt by Yormark’s comments.
Got it! Well, they'll get over it. Poor babies.

That was pretty funny, though. Kudos to Yormark!

And we won the national championship in 1861, 62, 63, 64 and 65. Undefeated against Florida, Georgia, Virginia, South Carolina, Louisinia, Texas and Ole Miss. Our Ground game in Georgia was second to none in 1864.

Haha! Well I'm not sure we were 'undefeated' but yes, eventual winner in '65, for sure.

YOU ARE STRAINING MY MEMORY HERE!!! :D

My WORST nightmare is the Big 12 offices put Iowa State in a protected rivalry/pod with Cincy, WVU, and UCF... Pods allow you to play 3 games annually against your pod.

A bit late to this thread, my worst nightmare is surviving the initial blast of a nuclear war, only to die of starvation and radiation sickness in the subsequent nuclear winter.

But pods definitely rank up there.

We were undefeated, but had to bail out TOE a couple of times.

Kinda surprised by the Baylor last winless in 69. I don't remember Baylor being great in the 90s, early 2000s.

I was a bit surprised also.

BU was "consistently bad" without being winless in that late-90s/early-00s stretch.

Here are seasons with 2 wins or fewer since 1960 (I didn't go back further than that)

2017: 1-11
2000: 2-9
1999: 1-10
1998: 2-9
1997: 2-9
1973: 2-9
1971: 1-9
1970: 2-9
1969: 0-10
1967: 1-8-1

Seriously, General Sherman did give highest compliments in a speech years later in Des Moines, to the Iowa boys, (Iowa state,I believe, had a higher percentage than TOE, that fought).

Interesting tidbit on the history of the Southwest Conference that shows that 110 years ago, Texas had a bad reputation. UT wanted Ole Miss and LSU to be charter members of the conference and those schools said no way. Also, in 1972, I found a newspaper article that had UT complaining “they were subsidizing the entire conference.”

If my memory is correct. Baylor went something like their first 4 years of Big12 play winless. Of course their first win was against the Cyclones.

Or maybe it was they didn't win a Big12 road game for a long, long time and first win was against the Clones.

Or maybe it was both.
