As far as the pod ideas go, I just don't see an order that doesn't have us in with WV, Cincy, and UCF. I hate it, but it's the only one that makes unbiased sense to me.

My biased brain wants to keep a pod together with the old Big 8 teams, just doesn't seem likely to me.
Az, ASU, BYU, Utah
KSt, KU, Colorado, ISU
WVa, Cincinnati, UCF,Houston
OSU,TECH, Baylor, TCU

OkSt wants to be in with the Texas schools. Houston just happy for the invite stays with their AAC rivals. Us and the Kansas' get the nearest of the 5 out west.

Houston to Orlando has to be a really common flight for the non revenue sports. Those actually are the three schools that minimize UCF's costs as the new "most geographic outlier".

Then keeping ISU/kSU/KU together for some of the oldest series in American sports makes a lot of sense too.

My WORST nightmare is the Big 12 offices put Iowa State in a protected rivalry/pod with Cincy, WVU, and UCF... Pods allow you to play 3 games annually against your pod. Then you play six schools one year, the other six the remaining year. You can then play everyone over two years and travel to every school for a home football game every four years.

Basketball has 18 conference games. Maybe 20 by the next TV deal to get more $$$.

6 games H&H against you pod, hopefully minimizing travel and protecting Big 8/Legacy Big 12 schools.
Then you play every other school home one year and away the next. This allows you to play everyone once in a basketball season and semi-annually play H&H.

I cannot imagine JP allowing anything that did not include ISU playing KU and KSU every year. These long rivalries must continue.

I would be fine with CU, Cincy or OSU as a third protected game. No need to be greedy.

OK, try to stay with me here. Instead of pods, what if the conference is split into QUADS. Each quad is four schools grouped logically . . . .

:jimlad:
Let's see. A pod could be a quad, and a quad could be a pod.

It's settled. We'll have 4 quad pods!

Edit: I didn't get this right away, then it started to make sense. I tooked math in high school, some in college too, just to get it more right.

He so should have done the horns down sign as a mic drop moment.
I'm not saying the upside down horns won't do well this year, and they probably win the conference, every body says so...

But wouldn't it be great if they didn't? If some other team, other than Texas or OU, wins the conference, it would truly be special, especially on the traitors' last year. And if at every away game, all the fans give constant horns down, the whole game. Just to show 'em how we really feel.

Could be a great use of NIL funds for big12 schools. Give athletes money to do a horns down for the following:
$1k for a great tackle or pass break-up
$2k for every first down
$3k for every sack or tackle for loss
$4k for a fg
$5k for a td
$100k pool of money for the team to distribute for a win

If I remember correctly, next season CU and OSU will be the 2 teams in the Big 12 with Football national championships. Both were number 1 in the polls at the end of a season, CU in 1990 and OSU in 45?

And Iowa State AD Jamie Pollard: Couldn't have come sooner!
Funny thing is go to UT threads. On surly horns, Texas Tech has replaced A and M as the busier thread. They got their feelings hurt.

Kinda surprised by the Baylor last winless in 69. I don't remember Baylor being great in the 90s, early 2000s.
