Best BBQ Sauce

Id like to get into it and experiment just as a weekend hobby. I dont eat pork but turkey, chicken, and beef are fair game. I also don't want to **** up an expensive cut of meat. Is brisket the best thing to just have some fun with?
I would start with Pork Butts (on the pork side) and maybe chuck roast (on the beef side) to start to dial in your preferences / experiments. Mistakes are a lot cheaper this way. Then you can graduate and work your way up to brisket.

Countryside all-day everyday. Just works so well for so many things and the onions bits are superior.

There's a bbq place called Warehouse near Ottumwa that has an apple habanero bbq sauce that's a pretty good time as well.
I’m 45 minutes from Ottumwa so I’ll have to give it a shot.

A lot of people say Jack Stack is a really good place in terms of bang for buck. There are 2 or 3 of them around the metro.
Either are great BBQ joints in KC.
Z man at Joes is tasty. The rest is kind of meh. Not a big fan of St. Louis ribs and the pulled pork is ok at best (I am a self admitted pulled pork snob).

Jack Stacks - I have yet to have a bad meal - ribs are solid, brisket and burnt ends are awesome, and the sides are some of the best I have had.

I celebrate all BBQ sauce but Big Daddy’s is making a return. Someone bought the recipes and started taking small orders on Reddit. A few months later, I found three different flavors at the downtown HyVee.

My judgement may be clouded by nostalgia, but it’s really, really good. I’ve been actively cooking things to use it with. That’s love. And good BBQ sauce.

I keep blues hog, countryside and devils spit on hand. Devils spit 50/50 with countryside is awesome. @CyJam really sent me on a nostalgia trip with the Rudy's, I ate gallons of that stuff as a kid!

Off the BBQ topic but have you ever gotten a slice of pizza from Price Rite Market and Deli? That's as iconic of a place to eat as anywhere for anything in KC. I saw Kelce getting a slice of pizza there one day.

Best on meatballs and/or a loin of pork. Have had guests pour it straight from the bottle onto their mashed potatoes...also makes an incredible "gravy".

Brisket is one of the harder cuts to get right....and expensive. I wouldn't start there, but when you get it right it's incredible.

Whole chickens and chicken wings are quick and simple, pork ribs and pork butts are very forgiving.

When I started, amazingribs.com was a great resource....still use their pork rib dry rub recipe. And get a good instant read thermometer.....internal temp is the single biggest factor, IMO.

I think Countryside is the best for chicken and pretty good on pork. For beef I like KC Joes Original. Sweet Baby Rays is good on all of them.

I guess I need to add it to the already long list of joints to eat in KC - IMHO, KC is a seriously underrated food town.

Their slices of pizza are what they are known for. KC is a really underrated food town for being a smaller major city. Is definitely a top 10 punch list place for a quick bite down there.

I believe Big Daddy's family is still alive. Not sure if they're the ones behind it. (I assume they are)

Been a minute since Ive been to DSM Farmers Market but they used to even sell it there.

Big Daddy was a big gentleman. If you donated to a kids charity, he'd give you a free desert.

Blue Hog - Raspberry Chipotle
Going to a large squeeze bottle was so awesome.

Years ago I went to a BBQ show and had phenomenal ribs lightly glazed. They used half Blues Hog original and half Traeger apricot.

Jack Stack beans are the best on the planet.
