Funny thing - I just watched the recording of ESPN's broadcast the the broadcaster said essentially the same thing. Rock Harrison I think his name is. That's a much better source than me but I thought it was interesting that he had the same opinion.

Cool to see how much Rocky cared. Think that’s a big difference between the transfers ISU gets vs the transfers Iowa gets.
Only thing that could’ve made it better is if Rocky did Carr’s phone celebration from Nationals.

In a dual, the match will be decided by riding time in the OT in tied after the OT. So if Block got out in 3 seconds, Paniro would of had to get out in 3 or under seconds to win the match. Probably not going to happen, so has to go neutral and try and get a takedown or point some other way. Very difficult to get a stalling point if no warning has been given. This basically allows Block to back up and play defensive for 30 seconds.
I am curious why people are putting the blame on Dresser?
The right call was made to choose neutral based on OT rules

The only possible blame Dresser should take is having Paniro defer. Block then got to choose down, got out immediately and forced Paniro to have to go neutral.
Two matches later they didn't repeat the mistake and had MJ take down to start, got out in 12 seconds and then Kennedy was in a tough decision. Ended up taking down and MJ put the ride on to win it.
I’m pretty sure Kennedy deferred here and then Gaitan chose down. Deferring is generally considered the right move because if you ride out then you can choose neutral and win by preventing a takedown. Definitely individual cases where this strategy needs to be reconsidered but that’s generally the thought.
