Basketball recruiting update

McD needs to jump on talent early, and at the time Dykstra was highly ranked. That said, no one has been proven wrong. All we know is that McD is willing to let a kid be on scholarship even if he is not committed to being a Big 12 athlete. Thankfully Dykstra did what is best for both parties. If I was McD I would have pulled the offer.
Would not look very good for ISU, especially not an instate kid.

Regardless, I think the only way I am going to make some of you guys happy is by simply not posting anymore. I won't do that completly, but I am going to cut back a lot. I have other avenues to say how I feel about the basketball program.
Come on mlps, do not do that...I may disagree with you, but I still enjoy reading how you feel about MBB.

This.

We don't need things that can be used against us.

I was interested to see how Jordan would develop, hopefully into a Homan type, but questions arose to his ability. It's tough seeing that he would have developed into much more of a role than a Cory Johnson, so maybe McDermott laid out what the deal was. I doubt he pulled his offer, but it was probably more of a process where it was known that he may not have fit.

Well we will see. I'll still post, but I'm working on how to do it in a way where I won't **** everyone off. The kind of sad thing (if you think about it) is that often times the best conversation happens via pm instead of out on the forum.

Before the fact: I had this conversation, we did not pull the offer...It was as mutual as possible. There were doubts on both sides, no idea who intiated the talk of decommitting.

I don't know how it went down and I really don't care. All that matters is that this kid was saved a lot of time and heartache. He can now go play somewhere else more suited to his skills and level of commitment.

I hope it is because you are tired of ad hominem, and not:
If you're getting mad, then it's clear that you cannot use facts to support an argument. Don't get mad; prove me wrong

Well I am tired of ad hominem no doubt. It seems like whenever I make a claim, I get attacked but no one provides some tangible evidence otherwise. The evidence or proof given is typically subjective at best.

In reality I just don't have a lot to gain. If I am right about something, then it means I wanted it to happen, and if I am wrong about something then I am a clueless idiot.

Either way it's a crap situation.

Yeah, from all indications he was a good kid, and hopefully he lands on his feet somewhere.

The ad hominen is frustrating to argue with (when it is not just joking around).
I would disagree with the claim that the tangible evidence/subjective proof is one sided.

I wasn't saying that tangible evidence is one sided. IMO, if I argue something and back it up with facts (sometimes I just drop my opinon, but there are arguments that I back up with facts or stats), it's going to be difficult for me to change my mind by someone saying "just trust me" or "I guarentee it will/will not happen".

I need more than that to be convinced that I am incorrect or that I should change my mind...

I've never had to delete a self inflicted personal attack......I got your back....
