Audi Crooks to Transfer

Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but I disagree vehemently - this is high drama and I hope ISU plays OSU three times in 2026-2027! It might supplant EIU as my most anticipated rivalry game this year - be even better if it’s meaningful! Audi will look great wearing Pistol Pete’s black cowboy hat!

Basically I said the same thing. Womens basketball is already not getting super great ratings. Finally found an angle on a game and they don't want the angle to happen? That is a weird take on it. You absolutely go to the schedule team and say "make sure Audi Crooks plays in Ames this next season".

Then teach our players how to drive on offense and flop guarding her. Make it anti-climatic by forcing her to the bench with fouls for half the game.

Yeah gonna need more than 1.4 to do that.

What is being reported for Oklahoma State WBB Top Players:

Heard - $2 Mil
McGill - $1.3 Mil
Crooks - $1.4 Mil

So those three are reportedly getting $4.7 Mil (plus whatever the rest of the team gets) - supposedly last year's UCLA team that won the title had a payroll of $5 Mil so that is in the ballpark for a top team.

Side note - I do think AC preference would have been to leave the Big 12 but her options were becoming limited so she decided to take the offer from OSU.

PS - You do not need to respond and say this is untrue - it is what the insiders are reporting.
Maybe they are Bobby Bonilla contracts . . . to be paid out over the next 30 years. Unattached $47k per year for basically the rest of your working life sure removes a lot of stress from jobs

If I sent that much I would expect big things too, but they will be disappointed.
It takes a lot more than highly paid players to win a championship, that's for sure. This is especially true in college WBB. The chances are very small when one of your key pieces is a significant liability on the defensive end.

There's also the luck factor. They have a "big 3" but one turned ankle or blown ACL can ruin the season in a flash.

I don’t watch much WBB but aren’t there basically the same 6-8 teams or less that have any chance of winning the national championship?

You can buy a lot of big name, talented players. But its a lot harder to buy a TEAM.

This sorta feels like Kansas spending a ton last year on Storr, Mayo, Dickinson and coming up small.
Or Kentucky this year. Et al.
LSU a few years ago is the perfect case-in-point. They assembled one of the greatest rosters of WBB talent in history and didn't even make the Final Four. There were locker room issues and drama to the point where AR had to take a break from the team. Total disaster.
