The only way we see her in Hilton is if we play OSU twice next season. We played them twice in 25-26, and the second game was in Ames, meaning the game in 26-27 will be in Stillwater unless OSU is one of the teams we play twice in 26-27. It is possible, since we have played KSU twice in the last two seasons, but unlikely.
I don’t hate them. I honestly just don’t care about them much at all.
Because it's likely money that really doesn't impact the donor, and they have a passion for WBB.
I've grown up golfing, and also coached my daughters playing softball for 8 years. If oil starts seeping up in my backyard, and the billions start rolling in, I would 100% donate "stupid money" to the ISU golf teams and softball team. Sadly, all I have in my backyard right now is regular mud from all the spring rains.
If the Big 12 is smart they make sure OSU doesn't play at ISU this coming season. More so to protect one of their star players from having to be put in an awkward situation returning to a school she spent 3 years at and may be a hostile and uncomfortable environment. While it's also kind of a nut kick to our fanbase too if we have to see her play in Hilton in another uniform just for all parties involved it would probably be wise not the have OSU play in Hilton this coming season.
You know there is going to be a passionate portion of the fanbase that will likely boo her and who knows what else possibly. That's just the nature of losing someone that was a big part of the program for 3 years that fans became emotionally involved and now feel betrayed. I don't see it being a friendly welcome back for her and while I am sure Bill will do the classy thing and give her a hug and act like all is ok I would guess him and possibly some of the few returning players that played with her are going to feel a big awkward too. There probably are some fans that will still cheer her but if I had to guess they would be outnumbered quite a bit by those who don't feel like our fans our fans owe her anything at this point. Which is why I'm really hoping we don't see this game on the schedule when it comes out so both our fans and Audi can get a bit of closure and not have to deal with an awkward game environment.
I also so a cruel world where the Big 12 will see it as a big ratings grab and schedule OSU at Hilton and put it on ESPN to hype up the "Audi Crooks returns to Hilton Coliseum" story line too.

You’re saying there needs to be an adjustment to constrain some of the cost drivers that are crushing college sports programs. I agree.

She wouldn't have had ISU related endorsements for the rest of her life, that's just silly to say. I don't think even after she graduated, she would have much value. What Endorsements there are will chase the current athletes, not past.
And over the past four years, Jacie Hoyt has had 25 players transfer out of her program, including nine this year. Leads me to believe Ms. Hoyt isn't the easiest coach to play for, given that she loses half her team each year.
We will see how Jada does playing for Kim. It will be OK in non-conference play when LSU is playing its regular cupcake schedule, and Jada looks great, but let's see how things go when SEC play starts, and she has to face tougher competition. What's going to happen when LSU plays South Carolina, and Jada turns the ball over 10 times? Kim will bench her, whereas Bill let her keep playing.
I guess. But man, if I were that AD, I'd be pushing that donor to give more toward FB and MBB. WBB is a joke with how uncompetitive it is at the top.
Maybe they want to focus on competing in lesser programs and will let football and or basketball flounder. No real chance for schools in their or our situation to compete for a championship in those two sports.
We will see how well Jacie Hoyt can manage egos with Stailee Heard returning and what she is bringing in, I can't see anyone wanting to take a backseat on this team.
Interestingly, Marvin Miller, the MLB Godfather of free agency, said he willingly agreed to a system where not all players were free agents every year. He believed fewer players on the open market would drive prices up even higher.
If the big 12 was smart. They would have Okie State play at Iowa State. Then put it on TV on ESPN. Sports are about stories. This is a story they would be able to sell on ESPN. This is a story that would pack Hilton to cheer on the Clones. This is not something to avoid like you say, this is something to profit on. The big 12 isn't going to shy away from this type of thing. They won't when the Utah kid plays at Utah who is now on Kansas, the Kansas State kid plays at Kansas state for us. Why would they do it for Crooks? That makes no sense. Bring on the drama. I might actually tune in for 5 minutes just to see the reaction and I don't watch womens basketball.
It is either going to end up in a championship or it will be total carnage! There is no in between.
I never cheered for Audi Crooks the basketball player, I cheered for Audi Crooks who represented Iowa State. There are a lot of other great kids and great stories at other schools who I don't care about either. So why is "fan" in quotes? She turned on ISU, no grievance to her for taking the money that was offered, but now she plays for an in conference opponent of the team I am a "fan" of, so yes, I no longer cheer for her success because it would negatively impact ISU. So why wouldn't a "fan" turn on a player in that situation?
Or actors and actresses. Man, some of them do some crazy work to fit roles they are cast into. Except they do it both ways, some from soft Niang to buff Niang and sometimes from buff Niang to soft Niang and back again.
It’s not silly and not what I’m saying. I’m thinking more along the lines of Niang or other ISU legends that can put their face and name on anything in Ames the rest of their lives. She can no longer do that. Again if it was a difference of $250 or $300 thousand, you pause to consider. With what was put out today, you take the $1.4 million and run.
