It takes "two to tango". Audi needed to take advantage of the opportunity in front of her too. It's too late for Audi. Our staff and strength and conditioning team absolutely failed her.
I think it's more nuanced than that. I don't think the players hate Bill or are sick of him. I think they're tired of the failed expectations and the stress that puts on everybody in the program. I think they're looking for a fresh start, and most of all, the money that comes with being highly sought after in the portal. There is such a thing as adapting to modern ways, but entitlement is real and an issue as well. That said, this is all speculation. People seem to be willing to assume that players that were here for three years all just had enough. I guess that may be true, but are we to believe Bill went from difficult to intolerable within the last few weeks but Jamie is not feeling that/not concerned? You have on the one hand him being tuned into the gymnastics situation and ultimately shutting down the program…but he no doubt would have heard from multiple parents and players here and not only didn’t act but posted a supportive message? And Bill and Audi go from having that moment where they were both think of loved ones who died…to the point that Audi was so moved she couldn’t see through tears to hit her free throw…to now she’s out?
This is all gossip and hearsay…and I think we can have constructive conversations about WBB and what perhaps could be done, but we don’t need to drag either the winningest coach in our history or former players through the mud…again without any solid evidence.
But, she quit. It’s not even an arguable point.Nope. She gave ISU three great years, with not a lot of support around her. Maybe just tired of being the centerpiece.
It’s telling CF doesn’t have this big of a thread on Addy Brown or the others.
It actually picked back up the last 2 yrs as far as butts in the seats. The lower bowl is pretty full and the center 3 sections on both sides of the balcony have quite a few people in them. Until then it was pretty much lower bowl 75-80% full for most games. Not much in the balcony.I think attendance at ISU women’s basketball is considered good by national standards, but it looks like it has fallen off in the last few years.
I'm not sure why whether or not she quit matters. Everybody quits. Every other student who transfers, quits. So does everyone who decides to take a new job. Who gives a **** if she quit? It's not some moral failing. To quote an old song: Every new beginning comes from some other beginning's end. But, she quit. It’s not even an arguable point.
I believe $180,000 was mentioned in another thread. What’s he make per year?
The season is over. She considering opportunities with other employers. But, she quit. It’s not even an arguable point.
I assumed it would be way more than that…hmmI believe $180,000 was mentioned in another thread.
I really think Kansas State would be more likely. Jeff Mitte would know how to use a player like Addy and she would be closer to home. They already have a stud 5 returning and Audi is way too slow for that offense. I'll call my shot now though, Brown is gonna end up being a Hawkeye unless a blue blood comes calling.
I don’t think it’s quitting if you finish the season. She didn’t stay as long as she could have, but she didn’t quit. The football team quit…But, she quit. It’s not even an arguable point.
Probably right. Add in Addy’s bag and where was CBF supposed to come up with all this cash? She will get it. That's more like Jada Williams money.
If she goes to Iowa, she ruins her legacy at Iowa State. i don't care what anyone says. Not sure where else she would go though. Maybe Illinois or somewhere like that.
Hard to say but I doubt she fits with Jensen's style - defense is just not there and Iowa plays quickly. Would a Minnesota or Nebraska be plausible? Honestly I don't really know where the big options are. Mizzou has done better lately.
If I were Bill, I think I would have told her to go for it…just try to not have us play you. Given the rest of the roster turnover, I don’t know that he can afford to recruit to build around her for one year anyway.Pete Nakos of On3 (whoever that is) is claiming that Crooks is asking “well north of a half-million” in NIL for next year.
Honest question: Are you the parent of a current or past D1 womens basketball player? I can't imagine any other scenario for this. Not into other sports lol. WBB/WNBA fan and that's it.
