Audi Crooks to Transfer

Yes - they are literally quitters of the Iowa State women's bball program. That is a factual statement.

I absolutely agree the coaching staff played a big role and deserves significant scrutiny. I'm no defender of BF and his staff, to say the least.

My point is simply AC went from "Iowa State legend" to "former Iowa State player."

I'm sorry but calling the girls quitters when their coach has completely failed them isn't fair. If anybody quit it was their mad dad who just stood there with his arms crossed and let opponents go on huge runs.

Agree to disagree. Coaching sucked and they quit. Both can be true :) . I don't blame them for doing it. Doesn't change the facts.

I can be mad its raining today but it doesn't change the fact that my head is all wet.

"Grass is greener where you water it".

I think she was quoted saying that last year when reporters would constantly ask if she's considered transferring. Agree that it was stupid to put in this announcement, assume she just did so people wouldn't try throwing the old quote in her face.

Well, now she's channeling this old song.

Green, green, it's green they say
On the far side of the hill
Green, green, I'm goin' away
To where the grass is greener still

If it makes people feel better complaining on CF, go at it.

But Jamie has watched Bill Fennelly coached teams for over 20 years. If JP had a "style" concern, he would have pushed Fennelly out by now.

No amount of discord is going to result in a change. Hopefully, Fennelly and staff embrace building a team from basically scratch and fans have a team that is fun to watch.

At least the next few weeks of crazy portal action should be fun to watch and comment on!
If there's one thing that marks great leadership its extreme stubbornness.

One question for you, have you ever coached a team? If so did they always do exactly what you told them to do and never deviated from your plan.

They owe Iowa State the game because they are all paid. They played Ok state a week earlier there is no way in that one week so many got hurt that they couldn't play. That is quitting before the whole season was over.

Did Breece Hall owe you anything?

And before you say players weren't getting paid before the NIL nonsense, maybe think real long and hard about how good they had it the whole time to play a kid's game.

So the vote to not play in the bowl game wasn't them quitting on us?
I think the point is that in the current landscape, athletes have significantly more power, and schools, athletic departments, and fans need to understand that. Failing to embrace the new normal comes with risk. Bill Fennelly has every right to coach the team how he wants to, but whether we like it or not, players have mobility, and there is a price for being rigid.

Didn't most of the team leave? Why would you play in some toilet bowl for a team that you won't be playing for the following season?

Gonna go out on a limb and say that me coaching my sons USSSA baseball team is a little different that somebody who is getting paid to coach a high level college team.

LOL the old schools will never understand or acknowledge the majority of these players are playing for the coach and not the name on the front of their jersey. The "pure" days of college athletics are over, people need to just come to grips with that.
