Audi Crooks to Transfer

Do you know how hard they worked with her when she first showed up? They dedicated one person to her. Sometimes you can lead a horse to water but you can’t force them to drink.

I also think the reality is that our Strength and Conditioning leader/program isn't good. Going back a lot of years our girls look much weaker and slower than most of the teams that we would consider to be at our level.

He should have retired 5 years ago and would have been remembered fondly. Not now unfortunately.
Like a lot of successful leaders, stayed too long. Lose the fire, get behind the times, whatever - ends up damaging the org they have led so well, and their own reputation too.

Bobby Bowden. JoePa. Jack Welch. Hayden Fry.

I don't think it's fair to say she quit on Iowa State. This is BF's second major rebuild in 5 years, it's pretty clear what the problem is.
I've got to disagree with this one. She literally quit the team. I don't blame her for quitting, but she quit. Just like all the FB players quit. You quit before the job was done.

Everyone has opinions about why it happened and if it was valid, but the fact that she quit isn't disputable.

Possibly mentioned in this or other threads. Is it possible at least a few players already made a private decision sometime mid-season that they would leave, and thereafter were less focused, and it led to some of the team's slide? I don't suggest they didn't try or care (you'd want your strengths to remain attractive for transfer options), but I wonder from a mental standpoint collectively it hindered motivation to at least have a better season.

So Audi and the rest of the girls are quitters because she doesn't want to come back for another season of BF's tire fire program?

You mean like the guards that were told to just stand in the corner and watch? Absolutley that was the case. I also think Brown knew pretty early that she couldn't play another year in BF's system if she wants to play at the next level.

At least we haven't reached the point where basketball players got to vote not to play in the tournament. The FB team quit before the whole season was over.

I guess I am disappointed Audi is leaving ISU. I do not know why she is leaving. I hope her last year of college ball is a good one. It would be interesting to hear the facts on what is going on.

I thought Brend made a really good point about the life long implications for AC by making this decision.

Of course she’ll go make more money next year than probably any other year her whole life. But then what? Unless she goes through an extreme change and defensive development, she’s unlikely to play in the WNBA.

Brends point was by leaving ISU, she cost herself lifelong money for local endorsements, speaking gigs, etc. two days ago she was on track to be an ISU legend and beloved in the state for her whole life.

But she quit on ISU. A lot of those opportunities won’t exist anymore and that has a cost that might outweigh the short term gain from next year.
If she makes $1-2M next year, that is more than enough to make life good. She is going ot have a career doing something and make money doing that. Throw $1M at 8% for 40 years and she will never worry about anything.

I don't see how post-ISU fame translates into nearly that kind of money. You want $1-2M plus a normal career? Or a career of side hustles talking at bball camps, pimping Fareway's meat dept, etc?

Maybe its more than what I think it is, but real money now is worth a lot more than maybe money later.

From what I’ve heard, several were leaving due to locker room division. Like I posted earlier, I think BF needs to step down and while he has created issues this isn’t 100% on him.

I will not tolerate anyone speaking ill of Fareway meat. How dare you, Sir or Madam. If you weren't from the great city of Cascade, I would challenge you to a duel.

She doesn’t need an entire year to lose the bad weight she’s carrying. It isn’t as much weight as people think it is. It could be done in an off-season if she had the motivation to do it.
i wonder why we've paid $85-$90k for WBB S&C coach that works with 13 girls - (well now only 2 this off-season) AC's time at ISU with the resources, training, recovery, nutritionist., etc. should have shown more improvement. ~~ "Culture becomes what you allow"

Yes - they are literally quitters of the Iowa State women's bball program. That is a factual statement.

I absolutely agree the coaching staff played a big role and deserves significant scrutiny. I'm no defender of BF and his staff, to say the least.

My point is simply AC went from "Iowa State legend" to "former Iowa State player."

Didn't help with her choice of messaging in her portal announcement. "Grass is greener where you plant it..." umm, ok?

"Grass is greener where you water it".

I think she was quoted saying that last year when reporters would constantly ask if she's considered transferring. Agree that it was stupid to put in this announcement, assume she just did so people wouldn't try throwing the old quote in her face.

I saw a few “quitters” in the Syracuse game - Audi wasn’t one of ‘em.
