Why do you think so? Sowell played well but Eskildsen has easily been the most consistent.

Really would like to see Overby make some more consistent catches. almost seems to be a mental thing for him now.

I had a similar thought this morning. Our fan base carries too much baggage from the past. At some point we have to realize our program is just flat out better than programs like Arizona and Cincinnati and have confidence in our team.
Sowell catches in traffic better than every other WR, it's that simple. He catches everything. Feed him the rock. It's hard to beat teams over the air strictly via scheme and busted coverages, you also need the guy who's simply bigger and better than the defender hanging on him.
That being said, I'd like to see Eskildsen's usage go up also. He needs more than 2-3 catches a game, but similar to Sowell, he's primarily being used as a deep threat and little else. There's quite a bit of overlap on these two.
Sowell had a couple deep balls saturday, but he also had a couple plays that he turned into bigger plays. I think about the 8 yard slant at the start of the 3rd quarter that he turned into a 40+ yard play
I agree. Although, with the injuries leading up to the Arizona game, and after seeing some guys go down/leave the game on Saturday, I think there's a reasonable level of apprehension on the defensive side of the ball heading into Cinci.
A lot of the plays, he's lined up on either boundary. I think that slant catch was from the slot? I like it. Move him around everywhere. Throw him the ball everywhere. Feed him until he proves he can't handle more as far as I'm concerned. Make defenses commit more resources to him and open up others instead. Our best asset to keep developing the pass game right now is get WRs involved and for them to make the catches and plays. Making the catches in particular has been a sore spot.
Yep. And it’s okay to realize we will lose some games. And probably some games we shouldn’t. It happens to every single college football team. That doesn’t mean we have reverted back to Cyclone nut cup days.
This program is built different (and better) than it ever has. If you need to emotionally hedge by building up our opponents in case you lose, I guess go for it. We may lose to Cincinnati but it won’t be because ISU has sucked for 100 of the past 105 years.

He's dropped many balls this year. I think he looks good too but I don't think he's obviously better.
Also they're not really fast enough out of their break to be getting slot type routes so they get vertical shots in 1 on 1 situations.
It’s way too early to say he’s emerging as our #1 WR - the dude averaged 1 catch per game before this breakout. I think there is just as likely as a chance that the WR that pops on any given game will rotate. It was Overby in game 1, Eskildsen in game 2, no one in game 3, Townsend in game 4, and now Sowell in game 5. So they all can do it. Can one or two of them be more consistent?
I like the dude and think he adds a ton to the Team, but him catching everything might be some recency bias. You can tell he is more comfortable each week and I think he will continue to both improve and build rapport with Rocco, but Rocco's completion rate is 53.3% to Sowell and 65.8% on the year to all recievers.
It's true. You see things clearer/sharper with contacts then with glasses. At least it was the same with me.
Seein is the most important thing, son.
A massive portion of Rocco's completions aren't to WRs -- they're to TEs. 5 games in, Sowell on SAT was our best WR performance of the year by far. 4/150 (+ another that was a DPI, if I remember correctly) isn't an accident, or at least I'm hoping it wasn't. That's the kind of line that says a newer guy finally put all the pieces together and is ready to roll. This was the first game all season we had someone break 100 receiving yards, and most his share was on contested catches with guys stuck on him. Those hands seem to work.
I think that changes potentially now with Sowell and Townsend getting up to speed, and I love Eskildsen. We have a deep room
