Another New Waukee District

They've been rumored to go into that spot for 10+ years but Hy-Vee was always fighting it at the City Council level (behind the scenes) to avoid the competition for groceries. Glad progress won out.
Hopefully it forces Hyvee to do something about their prices. The Waukee store specifically is so bad about price gouging. I've always noticed that things at that location are sometimes $1-$2 more there than the Jordan Creek one.

The Texas Roadhouse in Coralville that we went to (for one time and one time only), I actually thought the food was pretty good for cheap steakhouse fare.

Now, the bro country cranked to 11 and tsunami of rugrats crashing around is an entirely different matter.

The Roadhouse in CR is always busy as well. About the only thing over there other than CFA that get's heavy traffic. Perfectly placed to get the rural visitors coming in from Benton county too.

I think the food is good. We have been to the one off of 86th in Johnston a few times and I always marvel at the staff. They seem to know exactly where everyone is all the time.

As an Ankeny resident, I wish we had more local eatery options and I'm assuming you residents of Waukee feel the same about your community. I'm just guessing its easier and less risky to be a franchise owner rather than doing your own thing, which is too bad but I get it.

I would have preferred this south of University, but still easy to get to from my house. Thanks for posting the (expected) plan. I like this.

Our family is the rare franchise fan - always know what you're going to get wherever you go. With me and the boys being incredibly picky, it's a necessity.

But I can totally get where you're coming from. It is amazing (and very sad) how many businesses turn over when they don't have that flashy name brand.

I know people on the internet like to crap on things like this. But I see this as good for Waukee. It seems slightly better than all the strip malls lining Hickman/University/etc out there.

The only reason I have to go to Waukee is Barntown, so I don't really have a dog in this fight. Which isn't Waukee anyway.

Texas road house is a well oiled machine. Food is always consistent and the staff are great. Never have left that place not satisfied. All the locations in DM area usually have 30-1 hour wait times around 6-7 PM
