She has a role but she did herself a disservice pitting herself against CC. I know some of it was media-made but she certainly hasn't run from it. Her overall game is atrocious but she's an elite rebounder. Problem is she thinks she's putting butts in seats, but she's not a draw at all.

I bet her financial team would disagree. You guys talk about the WNBA like it’s High School football. I don’t think there’s a professional level sport that’s more about the players getting money than the WNBA. That’s the ring, that’s the trophy.

I got bad news for you: the Sky's offense is nearly dead last in PPG, while being top 5 in rebounding and #1 in offensive rebounding.

Those mebounds are objectively not leading to more points, according to the stat sheet. Plenty of extra possessions, not plenty of points scored.

Reese can catch a ball. She can't shoot or pass a ball, apparently. Her shooting is AWFUL.

They cut their best offensive player (by far) because she is locker room cancer. It’s happened before with that player everywhere she’s been. I imagine they didn’t find another top ten offensive player to replace her.

It’s really nothing like anything I’ve seen on nba side for a top 20 player in his prime. She must be an absolute nutjob to not be in the league.

17.5 points a game last year for Chicago. Nobody would take her in 2023 and she’s in Mexico now I think. Insane offensive production and not terrible on defense for entire league to say “no thanks”.
Its the stupid extra H - for hater.
I remember her getting in trouble in college for something.

It's stuff like this that has sparked the "mebound" thing...

Those 5 rebounds accounted for nearly half of her boards in that game.

Of course there's nothing wrong with offensive rebounds. I think you're missing the point. It's about when she's within a foot of the basket and clanks multiple bunnies and/or gets blocked multiple times and comes back down with the ball.

If you think that's something to be impressed by, I'll just go ahead and disagree.

She's actually better than the statues standing around her. Wow. Talk about athletes.

Thats amazing. I can't imagine someone not taking a chance on her. She must really be the worst person in the locker room. In 95 percent of sports there is always a team willing to take a chance on someone. Especially someone who didn't break a law of some sort.

It's equivalent of a 26ppg NBA player and all 30 teams are like, "no thanks you can go play in Mexico" and it's happened TWICE now.

It’s not because every non- on court metric of the WNBA is like 1% of what the NBA is. The CBA doesn’t work apples to apples. The bigger the stakes, the bigger the risks have to be. There’s no stakes in the wnba.

CC has certainly skewed the perception there for everyday sports people. CC = big time = WNBA = big time. And that is just not the reality.

That's all likely true for the risk/reward/pressure analysis but in terms of on court metrics it's like a 25ppg nba shooting guard going to play in China because the league passed on him (twice!). I watched some Sky games last year and she was by far the best player on their team.

I'd love to see some real footage of the locker room and practice footage that lands a player like that in Mexican womens pro basketball.

That’s what I’m saying though, that wouldn’t happen in the NBA. That player wouldn’t exist outside of the league without serious legal problems. More seeious than Ja Morant obviously as he is in the league. The WNBA doesn’t have to be like that because what do you REALLY get from having that player on your team, even if you win the championship because of her?

Just curious since I don't follow womens basketball. What do you mean twice? Did they black list her out of the league twice or is this the second player this has happened to?

Yeah nobody has accused her of doing anything illegal or close to illegal like many NBA/NFL players we've seen stay around or even thrive. It just seems like everybody hates her to the point that being like the 9th leading scorer in the league isn't worth it...because like you said the stakes for winning aren't that extreme like NBA/NFL.

In terms of how good she is and being shipped to Mexico, I do think that's accurate comparison to a 25ppg NBA player. Mainly pointing out it's not like she was a scrub that got cut (she was their best player easily) and it's almost certainly why Chicago Sky is worse this year, not because Angel Reese is playing slightly worse. Angel Reese probably could have gotten better this year and if Sky didn't replace Carter's 17.5 ppg they were going to suck.

This single player Carter now twice in a short career has had the entire league say they don't want her on any of the teams. From what I can gather she's always easily been good enough to start for any team and it hasn't been actual legal trouble, just she is total team/locker room cancer. She came back, put up great numbers for a year, then the whole league again dumped her.

But in terms of Reese/Sky...when you cut your best player who was averaging 17.5 ppg in womens basketball (like a 25ppg nba player)...yeah it's going to be a rough season unless you make massive improvements in other places to get that production back.
