Tyrese Hunter played his absolute ass off for Iowa State. He was Big 12 freshman of the year (and deserved so), and single handily won us an NCAA tournament. He went balls out on defense and bought into TJ's culture from day 1. He was a 4 star recruit and absolutely lived up to every ounce of it, and was factually a key reason for us winning 24 games. He was as good of a defender as a freshman as we have ever had (that includes Toure, who Hunter was objectively better as a freshman than). And Tyrese did not have a senior leader mentor (like Monte, like Toure, etc.). He had to learn on the fly.

The kid didn't complain. He lost both his parents young and had a tough upbringing, and got offered a bag when we weren't prepared AT ALL for NIL. I don't blame him 1 freaking bit.

It is beyond weird, petty, etc. for Cyclone fans to sh*t on him. No one has to love him forever but he did everything anyone could have asked for a freshman, including 110% effort. TJ would take a Hunter in every class, with that level of athletism and toughness.

Well said. It’s bizarre the obsession people have over a freshman who transferred for what they thought was a better opportunity. I was sad to see him go as he was a talented player, but never wished him ill will.

As stated above: He played hard while he was on the team. He left school immediately following the tournament and essentially ghosted the coaches for a time , and in my humble opinion, did so in a less than favorable fashion. He then made some arrogant tweets directed at ISU players prior to playing against them for Texa$$. That doesnt make hin a criminal or a terrible person.

But, I also don't need to be told that certain ISU fans are terrible people for not cheering for him all the rest of his life in whatever he does.

So thanks to him for his work while here. He received his pay and found a better paying job. He left. That's it.

Fwiw you could have found what he said in a shorter amount of time that it took you to write this up.

Nah, I'm actually wondering what the kid said. I know there was some tweet that ruined some CFers' lives but it was never clear what he was saying.

Yes. The too short PG with no jump shot who some were losing their **** over like it was the death knell for ISU hoops.

And all the while we had a much better player in Lipsey waiting in the wings. Perhaps the coaches were aware of this and didn't want to waste money on a totally overrated player like Hunter? He was always a great fit for Beard. Similar character.

Can you imagine ISU football being the complete polar opposite program in the 1990s from what was the worst decade in ISU history by a long shot?

JFC...you either got anger management problems or you don't know your audience...why are you so mad about people's responses to Tyrese Hunter??? You typed it...if you wanted it to be "a fun thing" just type THANK YOU TAMIN.

Hunter was a DAWG, reminded me of DeAndre Kane. Players that Huggins always got that I hated to play against. Tough as HELL. I'll take a couple more of those thank you!!
