Amazon Prime Day

If you live in suburbia. You don't need a Prime membership. Pick-up at most big box stores is same day. When is the last time you actually got something in 2 days or less on Amazon? It was taking a week before we cancelled in July

Plus, 95% of their content on Prime video is garbage.
Almost every time, I didn’t even know this was a thing people had problems with.

If anyone is a fan of The Office and devastated that it will be leaving Netflix in a few months, the entire series can be purchased on dvd for $34 today. I already own the DVD set but purchased the limit of 2 today. Will make good gifts.

The deleated scenes, commentary, extended episodes, and bloopers make it worth it at this price if you like The Office.
What's a DVD?

I agree for stuff carried at the big box stores. But with things like repair parts for appliances and cars, the big box stores just don't carry them.

Shoes are another thing that I like Amazon for. Stores carry one or two styles and colors. Amazon has a lot more choices, especially for kids. And now with wardrobe, just order several sizes and only keep the owns that fit.

I have O'Reilly, AutoZone and Advance all with 10 minutes of the house. So I usually get filters, lightbulbs and wipers from there. We'll use zappos.com and Kohl's for shoes. Zappos is always free shipping and doesn't require a membership (Usually a day or two faster shipping when you're a prime member).

At the end of the day. Prime is just a convenience and we didn't feel it justified the price anymore for that with the number of free options in 2020

Outside of Jack Ryan and Marvelous Mrs Maisel. I can't think of another show or movie I've watched in the past year on Prime. Between a new baby, Disney+, Netflix and YouTube TV we are always satisfied and don't need another payment. Amazon was an easy cut

The Boys is a billion times better than superhero garbage Marvel put out on netflix, probably not the AAA title Stranger Things is though. Crazy violent which understandably turns some off.

Fleabag could be their best show...but that one is REALLY not for in front of the kids at parts.

I'm trying to get into The Expanse but too early to give it thumbs up or down.

I do like Jack Ryan a lot, it might be my favorite but almost a tie with Fleabag and The Boys.

Seems like the only 'deals' are on Amazon devices

It's been like that for a couple years. I don't know that I've ever bought anything on Prime Day. Really thinking about dropping the membership but the streaming service sort of makes up the difference.

I'm kind of surprised so many people have had issues getting stuff delivered in 2 days. Of our last 10 orders, 6 were delivered in 2 days & 3 were delivered next day.. Maybe it's cause we're so close to their Grimes hub?

That said, yeah, I probably wouldn't pay for Prime, either. I've been on my college roommate - errr, I mean brother's account for the last ~7 years. If I had to pay I'd probably just use the various other options out there.

Ever since that Grimes hub opened, I get stuff in two days, a lot of times in one day. It's awesome.

Cancelled Amazon membership earlier this year. Walmart next day delivery (or two day delivery) is more than sufficient for me. Never used Amazon Prime Video anyway, which seems to be the reason many have kept Prime.

Bosch is an excellent series. The Boys is also really good.

I forget about Bosch every time I want to start something.

My relationship with Amazon Prime is that my wife buys and returns a boatload of stuff online. Amazon makes it so I don't pay out the nose for returns shipping and I don't spend all day making those returns as errands.

The TV is a side bonus for me. Probably four times a year I need something on there for home improvement and maybe one time a year buy something for myself personally. REI is a drastically better value and better return policy for all of my personal interests, even if you don't live near an REI it's online shopping better for outdoor gear than Amazon in every way. When REI has a sale a few times a year it's usually as big or bigger than "prime day". I bought a bunch of great gear 50% off on Labor Day.

I've never heard this said before. I love REI, but I always feel like it's expensive u less you find one of their outlet deals. But it may be more about the impulse add ons that come along with my main purchase to make me think it's expensive.

Maybe if I had more time I could watch those. But for now, 3 streaming services (Disney, Netflix and YTTV) is more than enough content for this new parent

REI depends on how much you use it, but for an outdoors enthusiast it's too expensive to shop anywhere else:
- lifetime embership is free because you get a gift card back
- 8-9% back annually dividend
- Three times a year giant sales where tons of things 50-30% off
- Free online shipping
- When stuff does go on sale other times it's usually 20-30%, an actual sale
- ONE YEAR VERY LIBERAL RETURN POLICY

I've actually returned stuff there years later if it was broken. I bet I've saved $1000 on exchanging broken stuff many months after purchase. Just this year I exchanged a $200 broken item 7 monhts later. My wife exchanged expensive hiking boots she'd had for over a year because they were coming apart. I once brought in a broken GPS device almost two years after i bought it and they exchanged it with the new model. I feel like "Prime Day" is all year at REI with no annual $130 fee.

I'm not into hunting/fishing so maybe Bass Pro Shop does all of this too. I always wonder what other retailers can do to compete with Amazon. REI has them beat in their area but they seem like a rarity. My wife seems to think Nordstrom is great for online shopping but I have no clue.

The Boys 2nd season was decent, but it mirrored current life a little too much for my liking. Fleabag, I could never get into. I watched most of the first season, but her character just turns me off for some reason. Jack Ryan is great. Utopia is a strange trip, but I enjoyed it. Man in the High Castle was probably my favorite series. Upload was one that I really enjoyed as well.

I've been on fence about Utopia and Upload, I'll try them.

Boys S2 was emotionally draining at times compared to S1 that was more humor and somehow more upbeat, but still way better than the average streaming series on any service.

It's hilarious to read the reviews for Season 2 of The Boys. Mostly horrible reviews, but from people who absolutely love the series and had only watched one episode of Season 2. Throwing a fit that it was released weekly so they couldn't "binge". So funny reading about the demands to "binge" as if it's a constitutional right. The lack of patience is pretty stunning. You can still "binge" if you wait a few weeks, good grief.

Ordered something Friday morning and four days later it hasn't even shipped yet.

I have noticed that Prime is not as fast as it used to be on some items. Still it isn't bad usually. I have had some items that took a longer to get, but usually they indicate that when the shipping is going to be longer.
