Altman to Arkansas

That is great... this hawk coaching search is turning into the BVDV/Wayne Morgan fiasco. It has not yet reached the level of hilarity of their president search.

wow, never saw that coming. the guy who sits next to me at work is a creighton alumn and he is currently weeping....

I disagree. IMO, the media (Keeler) is really making this into something it's not.

Is Iowa hurt by not having a president? You betcha.

However, it's not close to the fiasco we had a few years back.

When we were looking for our football coach, it took some time. No one was saying anything and there were a lot of rumors/speculation floating about. In the end, we did alright.

I'll bring this up once again just because I love to speculate...but what effect do you all think this will have on Kenton Walker's commitment?

I have no idea. Many speculate he went to Creighton over ISU because of playing time - so that wouldn't really change with Altman going to Arkansas.

If that speculation is true, I would think he'd stay there. If not and he committed to Altman - who knows.

Intresting story. The cupboard looks a lot fuller at Arkansas than Iowa. Boy I never thought he'd leave Creighton....

Now who???

Much of hawkeye nation will be happy with this. They have consistantly said that they "can do better" than Dana Altman.

The list of potential candidates is shrinking...especially the list that has been discussed from Day 1:

Pearl - No.
Majerus - No.
Lowry - No.
Theus - No.
Altman - No.

Who is next?

Perhaps now Creighton will snatch away some of the coaching candidates that Iowa is pursuing?

I get more pleasure from Keeler being wrong than the suffering of the Hawks.

I think it is possible! IMO Iowa is higher profile, but Creighton is a better job.

I think they will end up with Stallings from Vanderbilt. Not a bad selection either.

This was a best case scenario in my opinion. It might open up Walker again, and then we might be able to avoid Altman. That is the one guy that has really had McD's number. Good times!

Dana Altman's patience was definitely rewarded. In taking his name out of consideration for jobs over the years, he got a big one. Arkansas is one of the top 15 jobs in the country. He has to be thrilled.

With this and the uncertainty of Kentucky/Florida/A&M/Michigan, the hawks look to be settling for scraps when this all shakes down.

There are a lot of good coaches, and assistants that will be good coaches, out there. They may not get the wow guy that their fans want, but they can get a good coach.

I sure hope that they stay divided, so that they can make the job as difficult as possible for the new coach.
