Daley was wide open for a TD on that play. Several times Daley and Lazard were open and Sam didn't see them.
FS1 commentators for affirmation? They just talk out their butt half the time. He is 6'5 and was lucky to even touch that crap pass with 1 hand. He couldn't get 2 hands on it.
Sam looked very sharp early and then reverted back to the one progression or take off Sam we've been so accustomed to seeing. Just very frustrating to watch as us fans can literally see wide recievers open, but the ball not being tossed their way because the QB slow progression read. Yeah I know the O-line made it difficult at times, but on plenty of snaps today Sam had more than enough time to go through his progressions, but failed to do so or decided to tuck and run. Has been doing that his whole career.
If I recall the play correctly, Lazard was mid-stride when he began reaching back for that ball. No way in hell he'd get two hands on it. He was lucky to have one hand on it. I could be wrong since I didn't have the best vantage point for the play and I don't have the luxury of watching the game on TV since I chose not to record it (thank goodness).
Ecby was violation of team rules. I assume Montgomery was the same since he admitted having issues last year.
Or he saw them and just couldn't pull the trigger. Frankly, I'm not sure which scenario is worse. Everyone was awful today, but Richardson showed a total lack of confidence after the first quarter. For at least this game, he looked like damaged goods. I don't know where they go from here.
Yes, it was a horrible pass. He was trying to make a play, just an awful throw, lucky he didnt get lit up out there on it
This was the risk in signing with ISU, and he knew it. He's the kind of guy that wants to help build something from nothing. Urbandale sucked when he was a freshman and he could have easily transferred to Valley or Dowling, but he wanted to stick it out and make the program better than it was when he first got there. He wants to do the same thing at ISU, so I don't think an ugly freshman year is going to scare him off.
Sam wets his pants at the first sign of pressure. He makes his fist read and if it's not there his eyes come down and it's over. Not sure that can be fixed at this point. Again, it's not his fault, it's just the way he is. he is a nice option as a backup QB at this level. The problem isn't Sam, it's that no one can beat him out.
