I just have a hard time seeing Campbell being at the top of OSU's list after going 7-5. Who knows, hopefully Day stays.
I think people outside of ISU respect the overall job enough to give him a pass for this year, especially when the underlying metrics point to a team that was better than their record but things didn't bounce their way.

A couple more years of 7-5 and it would likely be a different story, though.

Day just hired a high profile DC. That made me think he might not leave.

college coaches (with the exception of Kliff) haven’t exactly been killing it in the NFL lately.

Way up there
Ok. we’ll see.

Cmc may very well take another job but the transfers (other than Young) are all guys the would have every reason to leave over playing time no matter who was coaching. Its natural roster turnover in modern cfb. The extra covid year and loosened transfer rules are a bigger deal right now than the coaching rumors.

Generally I would agree with that, but tOSU wants to hire THE winning coach. Not a good coach, or a great coach, but a WINNER coach period.

Honestly, I don't know if CMC would be a good fit there due to that. ISU is "honor before victory". OSU isn't even "victory before honor" it's just "victory, end of list".

I agree. I think he's more attractive to the dumpster fire programs like USC and Washington where the ship needs to be righted.

I tend to agree...but who would OSU pursue if they had an opening? I mean...they could get almost any coach they wanted but who would they want? CMC does check the boxes in terms of experience, success and no "drama". There is something to be said for bringing those qualities to a new job.

Or back to Urban Meyer

They aren’t going to go after Urban or Fickell if Day leaves. People don’t seem to get that tOSU boosters and fans would absolutely riot if they tried to hire Fickell and gave him another shot. He had his chance. Vrabel or Hartline are next in line. CMC down in that next tier I would guess.

To be honest, the bears shouldn’t go after Day to begin with.

The Bears have never fired a coach in-season.

This doesn't mean much. You've never been able to interview candidates in-season like you can now.

I think they both are donezo. But trying to figure out how or when this joke of an organization is going to drop the hammer is anyone's guess. I think it's about equal odds of Monday or end of season. If there is a candidate they really want and feel the opportunity is now they may strike. We'll see.

So it is almost 2022. Bowl game looms. Dust settled yet on coaching carousel? What is the outlook on CMC - is he with us in 2022?
