All FB coaching rumors and speculation

Not sure how to repeat this without sounding like a broken record. The floor for a first time coach is $3MM. The highest paid coordinator of all time with decades of experience makes $2.5MM. We would not be outbid on a head coach by a school hiring a coordinator. That happens to G5 schools, not us. Everybody is acting so weird about this.

You ignored some realities there, but OK.

You injected yourself into an argument about whether we would pay more for Freeman as HC than other schools as DC. Which is all I was talking about until you showed up. Why is reading so hard for some people indeed.

To comment on that - do you know how much OSU or LSU is going to offer Freeman? It has been mentioned that it'll be the highest coordinator pay, so I wouldn't be surprised to see it in the $4 mil range

History doesn't matter we are seeing that schools are just going to spend what they're going to spend. If they think a coordinator is a 4 million dollar value add that isn't **** to big boy programs

Pollard has probably known matt would interview at notre dame since the day he hires him. I’m not sure how you seem to be only one surprised by this.

Let's be honest. Campbell SHOULD interview with ND if they are interested.

I'm all for loyalty. I believe ISU is a pretty special place.

That said. Iowa State is no Notre Dame in football. If this is what Matt wants then he owes it to himself to go for it.

Matt has conducted himself in the best way possible and has been a tremendous representative of Iowa State and what can be good about coaching/football. Hope he can stay, but only on terms that work for him and ISU

Everyone that works has a dream job and they are lying to themselves if they say they wouldn't take an interview if said dream job called and wanted to have a discussion.

Pollard knew the second he hired CMC that if successful like he thought CMC could be there might be a day in the future where, YOU KNOW. If CMC stays, the machine will churn onward!

He only had one losing season in 11 years. Never fewer than 8 wins except for 2016.

Florida just went 6-6 and fired the coach. The last 2 coaches at LSU won a national championship and both were forced out. What happened to Herman at Texas? 4 bowl wins in 4 years and fired.

Point being you had better win at a high level in those high profile jobs or you are fired and you will have a difficult time getting another head coaching job. Herman is "special projects coach" for the Bears. Guys who can't win at a high profile school with all their resources are not prime candidates for head coaching jobs elsewhere. The grass isn't always greener.

Please read my f-ing post. Yeah we will pay him more than a DC (although we don't know how much LSU or OSU will offer), but WE WON'T pay him more than other schools want to pay him to be their head coach,

Why is reading so hard for some people.
Read his post. He quoted “anywhere”. You can figure it out from there, if reading isn’t hard for you.

You realize it will never be the same relationship and he will have to ultimately leave, possibly even to a mid tier program, don’t you?
I disagree. If offered an interview, Matt's going to probably interview. Pollard knows this and understands the reality. If Matt doesn't get the job, whether he decides the timing isn't right or ND decides he's not the guy, Campbell's going to coach his ass off at ISU. Pollard's going to continue to appreciate Campbell as the great coach that he is, and keep pushing ISU athletics forward. I think Campbell and Pollard are pretty open with each other.

But if you think Campbell is going to be half-assing it with a wandering eye, I don't think you have a very good assessment of the guy. He might interview. That period will be a distraction to some extent. But if the decision is made by either party and Campbell continues to coach ISU, then he'll be right back to grinding. That's what he does.

There's a big difference between a guy looking to leave to the best thing he can get vs. this situation, where seemingly one of the jobs on Campbell's ultra-short list opens.

If Campbell got ND, I'd be happy for him and thank him for everything he has done for us. However, just reading ND 247 and other forums. Overall the fanbase would be upset and mad if they got Campbell. It would blow entering a job where you have to win over the fanbase without ever even coaching a single game for them.

It just goes back to the fact that ISU knows who we were before Campbell. He has pretty much iron cladded job security here. Campbell should if he doesn't already have as much control in the Football department as he wants. Long term he is safe here and can build his legacy here if he wishes. Campbell can become synonymous with Iowa State if he wishes. I don't blame him for whatever decision he makes.

Do you know what “anywhere” means or is reading to ******* hard?
