3rd team: Miller/Orange/Neal

Honorable mention: Sama/Eskildsen/Sowell/Bonifas/Buhr/Bacon/Konrardy/Perkins

I feel like a few of our guys deserved better, especially Orange

AMES, Iowa – The Iowa State football team was well represented as the Big 12 Conference announced its all-league teams on Thursday.

Pre season if you had told me Rocco doesn't even get honorable mention.... I would have predicted 4 total wins.

These teams are pretty indicative of the season this team had. If coaches voted on teams, why would the teams like Colorado or Cincinnati vote for ISU players they chewed up?
 
Harder to get on a team when there are 16 teams in the conference vs when there were 12. We probably didn't notice as much last year since we were one of the top 2 teams in the conf last year vs middle of the conference this year.

Also, coaches only have insight on voting on players/teams that they played against this season. The best they have for teams they didn't play are feelings from last year or if they gleaned something from watching game film this year.

*********!!!!!!!!! These coaches watch enough film on their opponents that they will see the standouts from every team in the league.

Agree on Orange. They list 5 DL on each team, not specified as End or Tackle. There is no way there are 10 better DL in the conference than him. Of the 10 players on 1st or 2nd team, 7 are edge rushers so there are only 3 DTs on there, making Orange the 4th best.

Lee Hunter from Tech is the only DT on first team.
Dontay Corleone from Cinci and Carlos Allen Jr. from Houston are the 2nd teamers.

Looking at some draft Rankings, Hunter and Corleone are prospects likely on par with Orange, so no huge snub there. Carlos Allen Jr was the top DL in tackles in the big 12 and probably top 5 of the country. He almost was almost the leading tackler for Houston. I don' tsee him listed on draft boards, though.

Only Iowa State, West Virginia, and Colorado did not have a selection on the first team. We finished 7 of 16 teams. This tells me that they believe Matt Campbell does more with less talent.

Yea, unfortunately, probably not deserving. He was 10th in QB efficiency and 7th in yards in conference play.

Hopeful that the rumors were true that he had a nagging shoulder issue and maybe he will be back to 100% for next year (and bowl game).

Reminder that there is no set list of # of people who get to be HM. If any picked you on 1st, 2nd or 3rd team, you are honorable mention.

It appears that there are 3 QBs who were honorable mention, so effectively, that could mean that Rocco is seen as the 7th best QB.

You want to really blow your mind, Konrardy was HM for Special Teams Player of the year and Specialist, but NOT honorable mention as a kicker. That means some voter thought he was the best special teams player in the conference, but not even a top 3 kicker in the conference? Was Kyle a gunnar on the punt team or something?
