Alien: Earth

I haven’t watched ep 3 but I thoroughly have enjoyed it. Looks amazing.

I think it is cool that the synth angle allows for some super human abilities, and the fact that they are children in adult bodies is a very unique angle.
I agree with this.

I didn't like the 3rd episode as much as the first two. I feel like they were trying to show off a little bit too much about the alien species they created and I got a little lost. Or it could have been that I was exhausted after a long day and just didn't feel like paying as much attention.

In summary, I really like the series so far.

Haven't watched it yet and now I'm wondering how a sheep gets involved

I watched Prometheus over the weekend. I thought it was ok, it was hoping for more detail on the Engineers and the origins of the Alien. The bio-weapon was a single throw-away line. What? There were two other aliens besides the Alien that got no explanation. And nothing about the black goo. Beside that lack of background, I did like it. Will probably watch Covenant here soon.

The audio IMO is awful on this show. I need to crank up the volume to hear the actors and I’m not deaf

That sheep has me worried.
Id like to know if that little squidball can attach to a hybrid. Like, could it interface with their systems? That would cause all sorts of problems. It sure went after that red haired one early on with confidence.

I have mixed reviews about the show so far. I don’t think it holds up to other recent work from FX like Shogun, however I do like Wendy, Hermit, and Walton Goggins’s character.

I think the only real diss of the show is the character Boy Kavalier. We are suppose to believe this guy started his company at 6 years old and is one of the smartest people to ever live and out competing other companies in his teens.

However, the show hasn’t once showed him doing anything intelligent imo. I have a belief that I call the Tyrion Lannister problem(from the later seasons of GoT) which is that a character only appears as smart as the writer is. I think just think writing the character is probably the hardest on the show since the threshold to show the smartest kid on earth is a very difficult task.

Also I think the character annoys me because personally I think empathy and kindness are tied to intelligence. Smart people tend to be more empathic and emotional intelligent. His character doesn’t show an ounce of thinking of others which makes me view him subconsciously as dumb.

On the flip side I think the writers and actors are doing marvelous with showing kid minds in adult bodies. I really enjoy that storyline.

im really curious who the human victim of the egg will be if that plot line develops. My guess is one of the married scientists.

Intelligence can come off as cold and uninviting as well. I dont mind his character at the moment as I see hes a bit eccentric and we dont know his motivations yet. They keep slow dripping it to us with the screen intel of his rise to power and his commentary about family and loved ones. He clearly lost someone but....who. He has a ton of technological knowledge, but his emotional status and vision is that of a child. Which is most likely why he chose children.

True. And why I haven't invited you anywhere.

The only thing that bothers me about Prometheus and Covenant is that the crew/humans are written to behave too stupidly. Scientists breaching basic protocols all over the place; people acting way too naively at key points; complete lack of self awareness. While the leading figures show some depth, the supporting characters come off as oversimplifications. At least that's how I see it.

I didn't see it at the time but I do see what you mean now. Except for Weyland, Charlize Theron and Idris Elba's characters, they were all supposed to be scientists but they were played more like the blue collar guys from the original movie.
