Aiken

I'll go ahead and project that the only way he avoids another 20 loss season this time around would be a shortened season.
Hey, we technically didn't miss the tournament this year. Can't miss the tournament if there is no tournament.

Also, this is clearly just semantics as we obviously lost to OSU the last game, but is it going to end up counting? Are any of those tournament games going to count if the tournaments weren't finished?

I honestly don't know if you've read my other posts, but I've shared my opinion that I believe if he doesn't get it done this year he should be fired. I understood the rebuilding year 3 seasons ago. This past season, even though it makes sense after losing the talent we did, there's no reason whatsoever we should've ended up being as bad as we were. The two freshman leaving early could've been used on transfers or guys that didn't leave. Nixon was a complete bust. It was unacceptable honestly. I just hold the opinion that he should get next year to kick things back into gear. We don't have to be great, but making the tournament even as a 10 seed would be fantastic. If that doesn't happen, kick rocks.

So after three years of complete under performance you believe the 4th year will be the charm? How much basic evidence does it take to understand this **** isn't going to work out.

I mean I could actually provide loads of coaching resumes where it took years in order to build a sustainable program, but we want success now. We demand it. And when we have success like two years ago, it's not good enough because we "should've been better".

Going 9-9 in conference with 3 draft picks in the starting lineup and guys as talented Wigginton and Lard coming off the bench is not success.

It's not that they should have been better, they simply were better and did not come anywhere near their potential.

THT was drafted and Tyrese is going to be a lottery pick. All 4 of those guys were underclassmen and we were relying heavily on them. Shayok was phenomenal but we were still relying on freshman and sophomores to carry the weight. The Big 12 was a gauntlet last year. Should we have gotten 3rd or 4th? Probably, but now you're saying your upset we didn't win 1-2 more games during the regular season. Anything more than that would be asking for that team to be one of the best in Iowa State history.

Mad about how the tournament went? We've had better teams with better coaches lose to worse teams in the first round.

But losing them justified a 20 loss "rebuilding year"?

I think if you are going to say last year was some great rebuilding year, you have to acknowledge the year before was a bit of a disappointment. People love to try to spin things in Steve's favor and it just doesn't add up. You can't say "we lost so much last year had to be a rebuilding year" while also saying "meh, that team wasn't as good as people think and 9-9 was a reasonable outcome."

You trot out anymore weak excuses and I'm going to start assuming that you and Steve are connected in some way.

Related? Friends? *******?

No no no. I'm saying this past season was absolutely uncalled for. The season before was good, regardless of whether we underperformed or not. You cannot go every other year from being good to rebuilding unless somehow in that good year you go far in the NCAA tournament. That is why I'm saying next year is Steve's last year. I feel like you think I'm okay with these types of seasons and want Steve as our coach forever. I don't! I just don't want this program to turn into a revolving door of coaches.

He was handed a sustainable program and drove it straight into the ground. Are you being serious right now?

If I were related to Steve or a friend of his I would not be calling for him to get fired next year lol.

It's just hard to figure out why we keep needing rebuilding years. We haven't been good enough to need to rebuild...

Well the first rebuilding year I can understand. Recruits were reluctant to want to come to ISU right away because Fred left and there weren't great opportunities to play right away due to the talented rosters.. Steve absolutely whiffed on grad transfers in Wigginton's first year and took Shayok and Mike, but that led to that 17-18 season being pretty darn bad.

This past year, there were opportunities for Steve to make the team better and he went down the route of grabbing two more high school guys and both of them left. Going all in on two transfers probably would've been better and we would've been better as a whole.

His recruiting tactics have not been sustainable at all. It's setting us up for failure because every year we're trying to find high level guys instead of developing them through the program which he has really yet to do besides Solomon and Babb. That's a big problem and what's gotten himself into this situation.

This is exactly where everyone should be.
People gave him way too much slack for the year after Monte, and we're giving him way too much slack now.

The math on it isn't hard.

He takes over, we are #7 in the country.

5 years later? 20 loss season and a roster we can't seem to fill out.

I don't know an easier way to put it than that.

We're either going to be better next year and people will be happy, or Prohm's fired and people will be happy. That's the situation we're now in. I for one wish we would've just not gone down this road and would've hired TJ from the beginning because it honestly feels like that's where we're going to end up after all of this anyway..

"Better" is going to be the issue. Honestly he burned so mood goodwill with me last year it will take a serious improvement to make me a believer.

For me, it's making the tournament next year. I don't care if we're a double-digit seed, just figure it out.
