St Johns fans aren't happy about this from what I've seen. They have far more to be upset about than we do

Why? He has't done anything too great for them. Either way, I don't give a ****.

I know this isn't the best comparison, but at Penn State some people's inclination was to report to Paterno instead of the proper authorities.

Is there something about the culture of college sports that makes people prefer trying to handle things "in house?"

I think people just see coaches as the ultimate authority figures. Hell, didn't the ames police ask coaches to help break up Veishea riots one year? It's just our culture and how we view coaches.

I think he's been able to recruit well for them

Yeah, as soon as Matt got the job St. John's became a premiere transfer and JuCo destination. He is good at utilizing his connections and getting high level talent from those ranks and I assume this will hurt St. Johns recruiting there (and Mullins potential tenure) as much as it help will Fred bring a winner to Nebraska soon. I am sure well be hearing Nebby associated with most if not all the top transfers by next week.

Matt is officially a Nebraska employee now.

@NYPost_Brazille St Johns assistant coach Matt Abdelmassih is officially out at St Johns. Headed to Nebraska with Fred Hoiberg. Major loss for the program. #sjubb

@NYPost_Brazille Matt Abdelmassih said decision to leave was based on family and close relationship with Fred Hoiberg. "The best decision was to take the next opportunity." #sjubb

Good to see Mr. Hoiberg got his favorite bagman back.

I'll just say that I don't give a **** where Matt A is as long as it's not in Ames.

I got to know Matt pretty well. He is a very nice guy and charming. He does ride the line of sketchy as crap and playing by the rules in my opinion. I guess I don't understand why so much hate for him. He did a great job and knew Fred was leaving and he left for a job first.

I think this is why. Whether it was from rumors or just the vibe he gave off, I think a lot of fans had the feeling Matt might be the guy that was capable of getting ISU some serious sanctions for recruiting violations.

Honestly it's college basketball though. He never got caught doing anything either. Every college basketball staff has that sketchy type fella. It's pretty standard. You need a guy who is willing to go above and beyond. Matt did that. In fact as far as I know the violations he commited were nothing more than some extra phone calls if he was the one that did do those violations.

Unfair take, imo.
Could be since I dont know him, but the overwhelming opinion from most seems to be that he is a dirty recruiter. If you have a different story to tell about Matt A I'd love to hear it.
