7)Hawks vs 2) 'Nova

Iowa exceeded my expectations of how they would play against Villanova. You have to admit they far surpassed the coaching or athletic ability they possess.

Considering the level they played at in January, I don't think that can be said with regards to today's performance. They're absolutely capable of playing better. That said, Villanova is still clearly the better team.

Villanova looks like they've lost interest.

Nova is like a cat that catches a mouse and wants to just break it's legs to play with it for a while, but accidentally kills it immediately. Then the cat has to just sit there and be bored for a while, when really it wishes the mouse wasn't such a *****.

This is the most accurate description of the game yet.

In January they looked solid. But we have seen Fran's teams collapse late season repeatedly. His style with the athletes he has, and his consistent throwing of players under the bus in the media wears thin on the players. I genuinely feel like the kids that play for him are worn out by February and can't deliver. Fran seriously needs to evaluate if he has the chops to coach at this level.

Wasn't a whole lot of teams on that January schedule that even made the second round. How good were they really?

Have you heard anything that would give this legs? Just curious.

There's been enough rumors over the last several years, that I wouldn't be surprised if Mad is looking to move on.

I think Iowa should change their official colors to black and fool's gold after the way the football and basketball seasons ended.

Question - was this ending better than if they lost 2 days ago in overtime? I'm leaning toward yes.

In the long run yes.

This is a delicate balancing act.

If Fran went all Lickliter they dump him in a heartbeat and there is always the chance they get lucky and hire someone good.

We want them just on the cusp of hope, just good enough they can't dump Fran but not good enough that they are, well, good.

They lose that game to Temple and pitchfork sharpening begins in earnest in IC.

Some talk over on HR wondering if Fran will go to Pitt if Dixon goes to TCU. I hope not.

I think it's in ISU's best interest if Fran stays in IC. Obviously they could do worse, but they could do better too. I wouldn't want to see them get Underwood from SFA, but I think he'll end up in Stillwater probably.

Remember when the Hok fans thought Fran was a better coach they Fred.
Once again case proven.
Go Cyclones

Mark my words,

They will bring this same thing up 3 separate times next year.

Those 3x will be separated by 2 periods of them call for a mid-season firing.

Would that mean TCU>Pitt>Iowa?
