If Kohl commits to ISU then I think it’s a done deal for Patton. I don’t have inside info, but my kid plays for Roosevelt. I’m sure it was not an easy decision for Jamo to transfer to Ankeny and he’s only doing it to play with Kohl. I was impressed that Jamo came to the Roosevelt basketball banquet a couple weeks ago after he was already attending Ankeny. That had to be tough and took some courage.

About a year ago Todd Blythe was raving about what an athlete Patton is. That’s enough for me

I’m not going to count on Hunter being around more than a year, which would open it up for the younger QB’s a year from now.

He’s got a ton of physical potential, he’s been in the system for two years (unlike Brock when he took over the starting role), and he’s going to have what may be the most talented receiving corps of the past forty years.

Much as when Breece and Jirehl committed while David Montgomery was still around, I’m pretty sure that young Mr Kohl is quite aware of the possibilities.

He’s a stud. With Kohl at QB he will be able to play safety full time his senior year and a lot of receiver. He’s big and a big hitter. I see him in the Isheem Young role. Still really down about Jamo leaving Roosevelt but I expect him to be a Cyclone and wish him only the best.

Kohl is literally the definition of a prototypical QB. I can’t remember the last time we had a guy like that.

Not a knock on our previous successful QB’s by any means, just that many of those guys had something atypical with their traits. Purdy being a bit undersized, Seneca also being smaller and more athletic, even Dekkers being a lefty and a bit stocky.

Kohl really could be something special if he puts it all together.

By the comment of “literally the definition of prototypical QB” I assume that is termed towards physical build, aptitude and leadership traits?

If so, I feel sage might be the most recent comparable prep??

(Perhaps JJ has more athletic/agility than Sage had as a prep.)

I would have went with Hunter Dekkers myself. Unless “now” or “lefthanded” disqualifies him?

Doesn’t disqualify Deckers IMO; however, deckers wasn’t in my consideration due to him not being a starter.

Yep that’s what I meant. I did think about Sage when I was listing those guys out.

I know we were recruiting Patton as a safety. Now that he has some experience at WR, working with Kohl, are we recruting him to be a WR? Imagine getting Patton, Black and Manning as our WRs for this class.

Congrats to JJ on his commitment. Can't wait to see him play for the Clones, even if that means Rocco transfers in a year or two. No offesne to Rocco, I'm sure we will still cheer him on if he ended up playing elsewhere.
