MLB: ***2026 MLB Season Thread***

A full house, Friday night, your biggest rival in town for game one of a series, extra innings. So, how about a walk-off grand slam?

Did a Google for MLB-AL hitting leaders and this popped up, 51 battings stats from Baseball Reference. TBT I'd never heard of many of these. Aaron Judge is 1st in 25 of them. The media MVP darling, Raleigh is 1st in 3 of them. His elbow injury killed the triple-crown run but batting title was not the one part I thought he'd be left going for.

Judge is hitting .350 over the last two weeks and seems recovered from his elbow that sidelined him. Seems a fav to get that batting title (leading .326 to .318) even if the writers swoon from Raleigh in the MVP vote. Only one guy in the last 95 years has won the batting title and also hit 50 HR, Mickey Mantle in 1956.

Yanks play Baltimore 7 times over their final 10 games. This is some weird scheduling. Baltimore was supposed to be in the hunt for the East so maybe they thought a big showdown with the Yanks over the last three series of the years was a good idea.

The Ernie Banks of this era. Ernie played 19 seasons and never played in a WS. Trout has played 15 seasons and has a total of three playoff games for his career. Guy's played in obscurity for a poor team we never see much. :(

And made me look at top active guys: Next guys to 400, Manny Machado +32, Freddy Freeman +36, Aaron Judge +36, Bryce Harper +37 and Nolan Arenado +51. If Aaron has a normal Judge season he gets to 400 next year, the others will likely get there in 2027. Schwarber is on quite the mid-career tear with 190+ HR in his last four seasons.

As bad as this was and looked it was not a hit-by-pitch. Fry either got a bat on the ball and it than hit him or it was a strike since he offered to bunt. Another dude came in to finish the at bat as a pinch hitter. Weird I can't find anything definitive on the strike or foul strike. Not that it matters, he was not being thrown at like a lot of social media fans want to cry out about.

This article says it was scored as a fouled off bunt attempt.

Reds get into the final Wild Card spot and promptly lose 2 at home to the Pirates.

With one series to go here is the Bracket as of today but a good amount could still possibly change especially on the AL side:

National League is pretty much set:

1 seed Milwaukee will play winner of #5 San Diego @ #4 Chicago Cubs

2 seed Philadelphia will play winner of #6 Reds OR Mets @ #3 LA Dodgers

Reds have to face Peralta today but sounds like the Brewers are going to keep his pitch count fairly low.
