***2026 Minnesota Vikings***

Well dominating 1st half by the Vikes, quite the game by Isaiah Rodgers, wish I had Paul Allen on the call. :)

Not saying Wentz is setting the world on fire, but the whole team seems to have had a little extra zip in their step right from the start. Like they knew which QB gives them the best chance to win.

Wentz has 2 more trial games. If they still play well, I’m not opposed to going with Wentz and letting JJ run the scout team to develop like they wanted him to do last year

I'm annoyed that for the most part, I've seen a shrunk-down offense playing closer to the LOS. Little bit faster reads and easier checkdowns.

Where was this the first two weeks?

I’m not exactly sure what you’re saying but Mizutani said earlier this week that actually more of the playbook is available now with Wentz. McCarthy wasn’t picking up the offense yet. I don’t think he’s very smart. Certainly no Brock Purdy.

KOC offenses, even with QBs off the street, have consistently been in the top of NFL in longest time to throw and usage of long-developing routes. Been that way all 4 years of his tenure. That's not a formula for success with a brand-new young QB and 3 dead OL guys.

Today, I'm seeing many more routes that develop quicker, and Darrisaw being back seems to have opened up Hockenson a lot more. Wentz's statline has nothing popping out from it to show he's firing it downfield all day, he has a ton of dink and dunk completions we hardly put any routes out there for before today.

This isn't saying Wentz is doing bad. This is saying they actually adjusted the offense and it clearly helped. See here: https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/6635070/2025/09/17/vikings-offensive-line-ryan-kelly-will-fries/

Two components of the pass protection issues worth mentioning are the quarterback’s tendency to hold onto the ball for too long and the original play design. Only Justin Fields is taking a longer time on average to throw than McCarthy through two games. Meanwhile, the Vikings have only run three quick-game concepts thus far this season, according to Pro Football Focus, more than only the New York Jets and Chicago Bears. Pro Football Focus classifies quick game as “concepts with pass route breaks coming under 7 yards across the board.” Perhaps most telling is that the Vikings rank 32nd in quick-game attempts per game since the beginning of 2023 (2.7) and first in deep drop plays per game (30.7).

Yup. I don’t imagine McCarthy starts again this season if Wentz continues to improve and win.

If KOC did pull Wentz and they are winning that would likely destroy the locker room.

The one thing I wouldn't worry about with KOC at the helm, is the locker room.
