***2026 Minnesota Vikings***

It was 2003... The Vikings missed their pick and a couple of teams jumped them before they eventually picked Kevin Williams. Vikes had pick #7, and Jacksonville jumped in and took Byron Leftwich, Carolina took Jordan Gross before the Viking pulled their head out of their ass and took Williams.

Amazingly, the Vikings had the best pick out of those three players.

If I remember right, wasn't Williams the player they wanted anyway? Still incredibly dumb and lucky it turned out the way it did
They were trying to trade down and had a trading partner (not sure who) and it went past the 15 minutes. The trading partner apparently drug their feet causing the mess. Williams turned out to be a good player, but not sure that is who they were originally gunning for.

I know, it’s a tough situation for a young qb. I see a lot of potential but some of those hits he took didn’t look good. Plus the poor kid will be seeing ghosts soon if it continues. I have faith in KOC to get him right but if he doesn’t JJ wouldn’t be the first young qb to fail.

Young QB and **** play on the line will doom about any time. For veterans, it's a little easier deal. They know their quick reads, they know where to go to get the ball out. Young QBs don't have that advantage. I think McCarthy can be really, really good but if you can't protect him get a veteran out there until you can figure out your line.

I don't know if it was just the Vikings. The story that came out after, from what I recall, is that the Vikings and Ravens were working on a pick swap. The Vikings alerted the league of the trade, but the Ravens did not. So the time ran out and the trade hadn't been completed and the Vikings hadn't made a pick. The Vikings waited because they still believed the trade had been submitted before their time was up. Once the Vikings got it sorted out that it had not, they put in their pick.

And they still ended up with the player they wanted (Kevin Williams)
