***2026 Minnesota Vikings***

From The Athletic::

• Cornerback Cam Dantzler exited Sunday’s game with an ankle injury and did not return. On Monday, O’Connell said it “is probably a long shot that he’s available to us this week (against the Bills). It’s in that week-to-week timeline.” O’Connell did not completely rule out Dantzler’s being active, but he said the Vikings want to make sure Dantzler is healthy when he’s back on the field.

That's not good.

I was impressed by Evans who came in to replace Dantzler. He made several plays.

Pretty sure those based on ESPN's FPI (football power index) which is some analytical system they use. By records, Philly has the second easiest and Minn's is 11th easiest. KC's played the toughest schedule by that analytic, but only 20th by record. I'm sure if you look at DVOA it tells an entirely different story.

The point being, you can find just about any system to support whatever narrative you want. I would suggest just enjoy your 7-1 at the same time GB is imploding. Philly's schedule by that analytic is cake the rest of the way, but I'm sure they will slip up somewhere. By schedule Minn and Philly are very similar as the rest of the way as they have 5 common opponents (6 technically as Philly plays the Giants twice).

If find it interesting how much the Vikes are now upping the PR with Cousins being a fun guy.
Coaching staff just trying to get him to loosen up?
There's definitely an effort to show the difference in the way KOC runs things versus Zimmer. Doesn't hurt to have the perception of your team being a fun place to be a part of.

Anyone know if Josh Allen is playing on sunday?
Still nothing official yet that I've seen. That said, the lack of hearing about him "feeling better" or "looking up to playing" or other soundbites like that paints a certain picture...

They could potentially add some compensatory picks, depending on free agent defections in the off-season.
True. But it looks right now like they’re going to be picking way back at the end of every round, without much leverage to move around.

Not sure if you can count on adding more than one, possibly two starters in those circumstances.

Of course, Hockenson is already one.

About those ‘23 draft picks…

2023 picks are useless in the 2022 playoffs. Have to play to win now. 2023 cap is BAD. Lots of aging vets on BAD contracts, KIRK has a disgusting cap hit next year.

Play to win now at 7-1. This isn't the time to plan for the future and piss off Jefferson

I don't know if I would call it "disgusting" next year. It's high, but many other quarterbacks have caught up and surpassed his salary. It's in line with quite a few other quarterbacks. Mahomes number is $10 million higher than Kirk's. Prescott is almost $15 million higher. And Watson is almost $20 million higher.

I'd pay Mahomes EVERY penny of that and more. He'll also restructure and extend, plus he's 27. There is $28.3M in cap space difference between the Chiefs and Minnesota for 2023
