MLB: ***2026 Minnesota Twins***

If i'm a diehard with season tickets, i'm not renewing until they're gone. I have a feeling that will be the sentiment moving forward.

People on Reddit are PISSED

If you think it will be used on payroll, I have a bridge for sale.
Given the opinion of the Pohlads, I agree, but think about it from the new investor's POV. If I'm putting up $500M (or whatever), I think I'd be pretty insistent on seeing it go towards improving the team I'm now a part owner of and not just enriching the majority owner.

They promise one thing and deliver another. And if I'm a minority owner, I don't really have say.

Yes, I can be insistent all I want. But these are also people hand-picked by the Pohlads. I just have decades of evidence to suggest they have haven't somehow recruited hard-nosed contrarians.

If the “significant partners” end up becoming majority owners in the future, then this might not be a bad thing. I doubt it, though.
Per Joe Pohlad interview in StarTribune, deal does not include plans/pathway to expand ownership % or become future majority owners.

"But the Pohlads — the three sons of Carl Pohlad, who inherited the team when he died in 2009, and their seven children — will retain a controlling interest in the team, he confirmed. The transaction does not include a path toward the new partners expanding their stakes or becoming the controlling owners."

A pretty important question is how the influx of funds will be spent. Will it increase payroll or simply reduce debt?
Same interview Joe Pohlad says they will pay down debt as a result of partial sale. And (stifles laughter) debt didn't hinder sale process.

“As far as I’m aware, that debt was not a hindrance in this process,” Pohlad said. “But with this transaction, we’re going to be paying that debt down.”

Gotta hand it to the Pohlads. The Vikings are owned by a guy who looks like Wario who was found liable of defrauding investors. Glen Taylor completely alienated the one player synonymous with Timberwolves and paid Joe Effing Smith under the table, and yet they still come out looking like the smelliest turd in this town.

One thing is for sure, you don't have to worry about holding any championship parades in Minnesota with any of the 4 major teams.

Twins being the Twins!
3-0 lead early and Ober gives it up quick.
Then offense goes home early. Bad loss.
It’s amazing to me how many times the Twins fail to score the ghost runner. I guess that’s what you get when your organizational approach is slow guys who swing for the fences.

I think we had Buxton on 2nd one of the extra innings and couldn’t score him. ☹️

Twins bullpen is really bad. Well I should say this team right now is really bad.
Adams and his 8 run ERA should probably go back down to the minors.

Nothing earth shaking, but I attended a Kernels game on Saturday and got to see both Dasan Hill, a 19yo flame thrower and recently traded Edwardo Tait.

Tait is built. He's listed as 6' 175lb, but that seems inaccurately low. He's very much a pull hitter right now, and annihilated a ball, sending it down the right field line for a HR. The next at bat against a fresh reliever, he looked foolish, catching air on three straight pitches. Nothing stood out defensively. He's still only 18yo, so I'm guessing he'll stick with CR into next season.

Dasan hit 98mph a few times early in the game. He pairs it with a nasty 80+mph curveball. Accuracy is his enemy currently and the River Bandits knocked him around for 4 runs in 3 innings. He is 19yo; I'm curious how aggressively they will move him up. He only pitched about 50 innings at low A, so I'm hoping he sticks around atleast part of next season in CR, so I can watch him progress.

From what I've seen so far from Tait (likely because he's young) he's got some Pedro Surano in him. He can kill the ball but needs better approaches to off speed.

Looking forward to seeing them make progress, join the big leagues, have a season of success where the team makes it to the division series, then having the Pohlad's trade them the next season to slash payroll

Rinse and repeat
