2025 World Championships

Did anyone watch Zahid's matches?
Absolutely tore through the 86kg field, outscoring his opponents 49-0!
Insane.

Here he is blanking the 2-time world champ Ghasempour

Teched Japan 12-0 to win gold.

For comparison, check out Ghasempour’s match with David Taylor from Worlds last year. Taylor needed a come from behind victory to win that one. Zahid looks like he’s been on a mission since getting to Stillwater.

Hate to say it, but everyone who has gone to Stillwater the last year and a half has gotten considerably better. It's good for wrestling. I trust Dresser to keep doing his thing and keeping us competitive, though.

Coincidentally, their football team had collapsed. Wonder if the donor was helping with FB and changed preferences

That’s true but also a stretch. With Wyatt, Yonger was out of heavyweight and gable wasn’t fully committed to wrestling. Surber is David’s weight, he went 0-2 at nationals and got majored both matches - does that get ignored?

Wyatt also just went 0-1 getting teched by a guy he pinned while winning 17-9 at the u23 worlds in 2023. So by definition, he actually got significantly worse. I don’t actually believe that, but he got rolled by a guy he worked a couple years ago.

Zahid got screwed last year with the singlet grab. He might have won an Olympic Gold medal, we’ll never know. Look how close Aaron brooks was to winning it all, leading against the champ late.

Also, Hamiti went up to a better weight, wrestled a Keegan Otoole with a torn ACL, and beat a guy David knows everything about in Levi Haines. Kind of like having a cheat code for that specific match. He then got rolled by him in freestyle a month later.

David has looked great. Of course, we want to be sitting here talking about him going for Gold, but I feel like David just turns it up a certain gear and cranks it up a level. I missed watching him. I miss him being in college wrestling so much!
