So we've got two in under par after 36 with Burns at -3 and Hovland at -1. Only three out there this afternoon who are under par for the tournament at the moment.

Cut line would be +5 with the current scores on the course, but those will get worse and they are currently projecting +7 as the cut. That'd be the highest US Open cut line since Shinnecock in 2018. It was +6 in 2016 and +10 in 2007 the last two times it was played at Oakmont.

Honestly this is perfect for the US Open imo. Just make every US Open course this difficulty. This is what I think of when I think “American Golf”. Just like the Old Course is British golf.

Phil Mickelson was 3 under the cut line with 4 holes to play. Proceeds to go double bogey, par, double bogey, par to miss the cut by one

He obviously wasn’t going to be a title contender, but that’s a rough way to end (pun intended)

Bummer. Maybe he had a bet on himself missing the cut to hedge his bets against making the cut and winning money?

Was watching elsewhere at the time but never realized Scheffler drove the 17th green and four putted for bogey.

Watching the Live From show on Golf Channel and they were showing Scheffler at the Range after his round and he was VERY frustrated. Yelling at himself, his coach, hitting the bag of balls and they go all over the place. Not usual to see him like that.

That night in the slammer changed him forever.
