Would you ever be in favor of Ames making a bid for a UFL expansion team for the state of Iowa? It could result in significant rental income for the AD and be a popular way to leverage CyTown. I think given Ames' location (nearest pro football teams several hours in every direction), fans would come out in support. It could be an opportunity for this state to make a case for themselves for a more significant pro team in the future, and could be a potential rivalry to St. Louis being nearby with above average fan support. I'm sure it would never happen, if I'm Matt Campbell, I'd want nothing to do with sharing facilities or working around spring workouts. And obviously, an outdoor venue like JTS is an issue with the current calendar for the league, but not insurmountable.

Side note on a minor leagueish football memory: I was in high school during the initial Iowa Tractors ordeal. The Tractors were really well organized and iirc the rest of the 'league' were about as rag tag as you could get.

Gotta imagine Blankenship from St Louis will get camp invites at least. The old guard kickers seemed to get old real quick last year.
Some fans couldn't stomach a concert on the turn at JTS. Can you imagine if they tried to play 5 spring football games on it?
I went to the championship game with my son. We had great seats and stayed at the hotel across the street from the stadium. Tix and hotel cost a combined $280. Pretty good deal IMO.
They were trying to mimic the Super Bowl. They had an area outside the arena for bags, drinks, football toss and Underdogs Fantasy was there too with giveaways. A few Battlehawks players signed autographs. Inside the stadiums, there was a DJ doing pregame and during the game. He did great. There was a halftime 'show'. Only played 2 songs but sounded great...the Black Moods.

With as expensive as the NFL and CFB have become, I’m still surprised that the in person experience hasn’t taken off more. It’s an inexpensive option for families to get kids into football.
UFL To Relocate Four Markets For the 2026 Season
The UFL truly is the wild west, and what we’ve learned over the past couple of weeks is rather astounding. Four UFL markets will be relocated for the 2026 season, knocking out the entire USFL conference.

*Houston Roughnecks now the Houston Gamblers (moving from UH stadium to Shell Energy stadium [soccer])

Columbus Aviators -- playing at Columbus Crew stadium [soccer]
Louisville Kings -- playing at Lynn Family stadium [soccer]
Orlando Storm -- playing at Inter&Co stadium [soccer]
Discontinued:
San Antonio Brahmas

This is better for everyone involved. There is no point, outside of St. Louis, for any team in that league paying to play in a leased 70,000 seat stadium. Since the league owns all the teams, finding appropriate markets and venues is still possible. But fans have to come, eventually.
