Eh, sometimes I feel we overvalue our own guys because it's the team we follow so closely. Nate the last 2.5 weeks, yes a quality piece. I doubt anyone can argue most of the season he was not looking like a power 4 player. Finished the year avg 5pts a game even with a strong finish. Hopefully he has confidence all season next year
Or sometimes we undervalue our guys cuz we focus on 1 element and are overly critical.
It can be a 2 way street.

Guy was tasked with guarding the better players on the opponent.

Also a very solid rebounder.
And when Gilbert was not available Heise did not need to look over his shoulder and he picked things up.
If he got 30 minutes a game he was scoring in double figures the majority of the time.

ISU guys are valuable in one sense, they are very good defensively. And try to instill that quality in today's player is challenging. Scorers are a dime a dozen. Defensive dogs not so much.

If he left, it would've been for a starting job at a p5. Every one of those type of players was getting over 1 mil. Dallin Hall from BYU averaged 6 points, played a little over 20mpg and he got 2 mil from UVA.

It was more like the last 6 weeks that Heise's aggressiveness and offensive output was a significant part of the team. Defense and rebounding were there all season. He would have easily received offers equal to the guy Iowa just signed from KState.

No better example than Curtis Jones, went from being a role player who could provide a little offensive spark to an All Big 12 player in one year.

I think people need to get used to the fact that this is a culture and develop program. T.J. is not going to make the splashy signings, he's going to bring in guys that fit the culture and play strong defense then develop the offensive skills from within so we're going to likely see a few guys who were unheralded coming into the season become fixtures later in the season. It's worked pretty darn well under T.J. thus far so I think "Trust in T.J." is appropriate here.
Respectfully, we all trust TJ. He’s been awesome. And yeah, CuJo came in and was solid as hell year one and took a nice step forward year 2.

IMHO, what is “off” about your post - and what a lot of Cyclone fans seem to gloss over sometimes - is that TJ wants to sign studs. They DO WANT to sign heralded players that also play defense and are great culture fits. They DO WANT to sign 4 and 5 star players. They do very much want to make splashy signings. Do they also need to sign under the radar guys? Yes, of course. But we need to be competitive in landing big time talent. We gotta be competitive in NIL. We shouldn’t take comfort that TJ wants to always be scrapping by with glue guys that “play hard”. He wants to win the Big 12. Gotta have studs to do that. And he can sign studs, as he’s always been an elite recruiter. In today’s world though, he needs NIL also.

I am interested to see if bidding for players goes up as summer approaches and more and more players sign or...does it goes down as more and more schools use up their NIL. The schools that have deep pockets will run out of roster spots as well.
I still want to see the number that don't find a new home.

Our coaching staffs make a hell of a lot more than I do. How much are they helping their own cause? Maybe they are maybe they aren't I have no idea.
Don't see many people helping me supplying tools for my work.

We used to cheer for 4 year guys that loved their team, fans, school. Now it’s prostitutes and their pimps looking for the biggest bag of money. It’s gotten dirty and it’s hard to buy into the hype anymore.
It sucks, but also have to appreciate the guys like Tamin, Milan, Nate and Joshua who stick it out. All of them certainly could have gotten more money on the open market, and like it or not, staying with your team for less money is loyalty in today's environment. TJ's team culture and our fans certainly help us in that regard, just look at all the programs with complete or near complete turnover.
