***2025 ISU FB injury thread discussion***

I was worried about Flora last week. His injury was glossed over by the announcers on tv, but I thought something looked off. I was really hoping he'd be available for this game since I'm anticipating a lot of punts
It looked to me like he tweaked a hammy. He started running awkwardly his last couple steps as he got to the sideline.

Neither announcer was astute enough to recognize it. For half the game they thought we were Fresno State.

I hope so, but I'm still gonna miss a 58.5 yard average per punt return. I realize it was against SD, but Flora looked fearless and decisive in those 2 returns.
You can get away with fielding a punt at the 1 against South Dakota, but don't want to do that against Iowa or any conference opponents.

Agree…. these 3 would be difference makers if we had them this week.

I actually think against Iowa, we probably will miss Hawk the most…. Big Citrus needs breathers, especially against Iowa.

I don’t know what Willich’s injury is, but I worry that he’s going to always deal with being dinged up…. he’s undersized and loves to hit people like Bob Sanders did.
Moore looked decent at DT when he was in.

On the new depth chart Hawk is listed. Flora is backing up Townsend at KR and PR. Buhr listed as starting LG. Willich is listed... I think we kept Hawk, Buhr and Willich out against SD so they would be ready for Iowa. Willich being out is not a big deal with all the depth we have at LB, but I thought he looked good against K-State.

What’s listed on the depth chart is irrelevant, demonstrated by Buhr being listed as a starter last week.

That’s entirely circumstantial.
I'm just saying, coaching staff may have a talk with him about it. Turned out in his favor against an FCS squad, but I don't see that happening against any of our other opponents.

I really wish he wouldn't have stepped out. Having a 99 yards punt return and a 63 yard field goal in the same game would be insanity, no matter the opponent.

If I was Campbell I’d list the injured guys also. Make them prep for them.

Their kicker was out kicking the coverage big time. They had distance but not the hang time for them.
USD's punt coverage was awful, too. Bad angles. Nobody stayed in their lane.

Even then, I still liked what I saw from Flora. Fast and twitchy. You need to be a little overconfident and a lot crazy to return punts.

Agreed, but I really do think Buhr and Willich are fine and were being held out to get an extra week of recovery before facing Iowa. Not too sure about Hawk, I hadn't heard anything about the type of injury he has. I'd be surprised if we see Flora this week and I would probably hold him out against Arkansas State if it's a hamstring injury.

Is this speculation, or do you know something we dont know?

Speculation. I read somewhere that the injuries are minor, so I assumed that Buhr and Willich sat out against South Dakota because they weren't needed and they could be closer to 100% against the butt smurfs from the east. I have a gut feeling they will both play and that Buhr will dominate.

not sure how reliable on3 is, but i did find it interesting Buhr was listed as starting LG with no OR on this weeks depth chart

Hell, it wasn't a good idea against USD, until it was.
I disagree - it's very much situational, if they are across midfield and it's a high kick trying to pin it inside the 5, then absolutely don't catch it. That applies to any fair catch. But when it's a low, long punt that "out kicks the coverage", there's no issue in returning it from inside the 5 - especially if there's at least 10-15 yards of space.

Did they say why he didn't play today? We really miss him on returns. Just link to the game thread if already covered there

OK just what's going on? How was he injured? Severity? Amount of time he will be out? Who replaces the legend? I need to know.
