I have some clips of Casey wrestling Ortega at the tailgate practice, but don’t think I can upload a video to this site.
Pretty sure Yonger & Ech will try to make a US teamWhat is the plan moving forward with Yonger, Ortega, Diversent, and Ech? They haven't wrestled freestyle matches in quite a while and I'm assuming they can no longer compete for Cuba/that's not even an option? Do they have any options once folkstyle is done?
He came from pratt community college in kansas. from what ive seen hes a super athletic kid with a high ceiling. has really only wrestled one D1 match and that was 4-2 loss to Christopher Minto from Nebraska who got 4th last year. Looks to me like a kid who could make big jumps fast. Can someone give a little background on the Powe kid? I've heard excitement about him but never heard who or where he came from.
Buf87 would have much more insight than I, however, I thought I heard MMA was in the cards for these two? Of course, things change all the time, so who knows.Pretty sure Yonger & Ech will try to make a US team
I think originally it was something about how they left Cuba. I thought at one time they could not go back and visit, which now they can and have, so their ability to wrestle for Cuba might have changed.Buf87 would have much more insight than I, however, I thought I heard MMA was in the cards for these two? Also, I don't know what would prevent them from wrestling for Team Cuba if they wanted. US athletes compete for countries where there grandparents once visited it seems nowadays. Perhaps Cuba is more stringent though.
BYU often has 26 and 27 year olds on their rosters.Ortega is not in his mid 30s. He is old (27 or 28), but not that old lol
after 2 yearlong missions out of HS /BYU often has 26 and 27 year olds on their rosters.
Yea, I have no moral quandaries with that. I do think its a big advantage for them in football to have 24-25 year olds on the line.after 2 yearlong missions out of HS /
Mineo just said that Crookham got one for this past seasonMedical RS aren't applied for until all your eligibility is gone.
That rule must've changed. In the past it was adjudicated after all regular eligibility was used. The NCAA wasn't adding years when you still had eligiblity.Mineo just said that Crookham got one for this past season
This will by far be the most hyped team from a national perspective going into a season that we have had since KJs first year- probably deeper than the KJ team too with every weight being rankedNew Flo Rankings just dropped which put ISU in 4th. 7 guys in the top 8!

Is Ech going to be at 149? I think they got the right ranking there for Iowa State, but it won't be EchHenson, Alvarez, Casey Swiderski, and kannon webster all ahead of echemendia at 149. Henson going to redshirt and/or move up? Alvarez get eligibility? Casey going to be a starter? Kannon really going to make 149 again? A lot of questions there.
